There was speculation that raptor resale would diminish a few years back after that one dude bent his frame from off road abuse, and that never happened. It's anyone's guess but I'm sure resale will be fine due to supply demand like was posted above.

Since you brought it up...Ford beefed up the Raptor's frame following the posting of frame bending incidents. Of course off road product vendors also came out with their own frame strengthening products.

I wouldn't worry about it. The Raptor resale will be better than most if not all trucks on the road. I don't believe a Raptor coming out in 2016 will have much effect either way. When the Raptor second generation is released, you know dealers will be holding for ransom that first year anyway, even more than some are now. So you may have to wait until 2017 or longer to get a good deal. I say get it now and don't worry about the next one, otherwise you have a lot of years of waiting ahead of you.

I put my deposit down last week on a '14 and this was certainly a debate I had internally and with friends. Obviously I don't buy a car for "resale" value, but I do go through cars every 2-3 years and I would normally never buy a car in its last production year (for a body style). However, I came to many of the same conclusions that have been cited here:

1. We definitely are not getting a Raptor for '15 and it is uncertain whether there will be one for '16.
2. If there is one for '16+, odds are it will not have the 6.2L
3. If there is one for '16+, the cost to restamp Raptor fenders in aluminum would drive the premium for a Raptor even higher than the current generation.

I come from a mostly GM-household [flame suit on] and I liken the Raptor to being able to buy a '96 Impala SS. Clean examples have held their value incredibly well and if you had a chance to buy one in '96 you would be a fool to pass it up.

srt10viper,
The 2015 F 150 frames are made of 70% high strength steel vs the present 70% mild steel. They are STRONGER and LIGHTER than the present frames.
GTXgp,
The fenders are composite/fiberglass on the present Raptors, and likely would be the same on the new Raptors. They would probably not be stamping different fenders in Aluminum...

You also got to look at ford not have and SVT truck for a Generation also. Things that hurt resale value is when big discounts are offered, 10k of the price of the truck new on the lot, when a used one is more. Reason why Toyotas hold there value is because there is never 10k off deal.

Wife and I are on the fritz, if we do go I'd wish I could be in a position to Trade in Super crew for a super cab or what ever the shorter version is. That is the only reason I would trade in my truck.

At some point, I'm going to be able to show you all the 300,000 mile odometer on my 6.2. Then, I'll be happy to sell it to someone just slightly under invoice.

Some Raptors with STEEL frames have problems with bending. NO WAY in hell can an ALUMINUM frame truck handle what some of these truck go though now. I doubt it if Ford can produce TWO different frames (one steel and one aluminum) on the same assembly line. JMO

The frame is steel, body panels are aluminum. Cool slider diagram here:
2015 Ford F-150 Pickup Truck | The Future of Tough | Ford.com (scroll down to the frame/body slider)

For the frame, they just added a extra cross member (I think that's the term). Was 7, now its 8. Since the Raptor hood and fenders are fiberglass, I am not sure how much weight this can save on a vehicle that already cut down on weight vs the F150

I would hold out for the snow plow raptor option... http://t.autos.msn.com/shows/chicago/fords-pushback-to-the-polar-vortex-1
