Raptor R realistic fuel economy expectations

I know those of you who are buying an R are more than likely not concerned about fuel economy. That said, I just did a trip to Seattle and back with my dad in the TRX, and I kept a record of fuel economy for fun. I think the R is going to be pretty damn close to the TRX in fuel economy. Here’s is what y’all can more than likely expect.

I’d expect it to be similar as well, but with the R being lighter and having a 1.0L smaller engine with a more efficient supercharger (IHI vs Eaton TVS), it may be slightly better. Regardless, you’re not going to achieve vastly different results with a 700+ HP engine pushing a ~7000lb truck through the air.

Plus it all depends on how you drive it. We all know if you drive 500hp cars like it is a Kia then you will get better MPG. Hell when I was tracking my M3, I was 5-6 mpg on the track…. Then on the way home, I was getting 19 mpg cause I was exhausted and driving Mrs daisy. Same goes with the 19’ raptor. If I drive like I have no place to go is very different than getting a call from the wife telling me I am 10 min late

True. But you can probably expect mileage to be about 30% lower for any given driving condition.

My lightning gets 11mpg hwy so once i get the R with only 235k adm ill be savin on fuel costs in no time

The R is also running 37’s and 4.10 rear end. That will negate the weight advantage regarding fuel economy.

I got the answer...

I went back in time and spoke to Henry, Henry Ford. Him and I discussed many things, the telephone, lottery and Tesla, imagine how confused he was when I told him that a company named Tesla has gasless vehicles.. Whew.

Anyways, Henry said it'll be approx 16.3MPG.

I thought the same thing at first but I looked at the GT500 fuel mileage and it's somehow worse than a hellcat charger on fuel economy. Maybe the dual clutch having more drivetrain stress?
