Take this with a grain of salt since I don't have an R. Could afford one but went with an EB 37pp instead. As nice as the exhaust sounds and power is ridiculous on the R, I just could't see the value of paying $60k plus for the R over an EB. Especially, when aesthetically the R is similar to an EB 37pp with the carbon fiber and Recaro package; yes different decals, bumper color & grill, and a few R's here and there. But for an untrained Raptor eye, they are aesthetically the same.

If I could've got one at MSRP, I would've given it more consideration. I probably end up in the same EB 37pp but as a car enthusiast, the decision would've taken a bit more time and thought process. But with the current market conditions at $60k plus over the EB, there wasn't much of a debate.

Now, if the R was more special in the sense that looks completely different than an EB plus it has the Supercharged V8, then we could have an argument about how much over the EB I would pay.

These are my .02 cents.
There you have it, you nailed it,do you want to pay $60,000 for a V8 over the EcoBoost sure some of paid less and it's a consideration if you can get it at MSRP but no freaking way I pay an ADM. I got my 18 in August 2017 when they were just rolling off the line didn't pay ADM then and many people were.

We can debate money until the cows come home. What's worth it to one is crazy to another. While I hate to pay over sticker for anything, heck I hate to pay sticker as I'm so used to getting things way under, money, like many other things, is relative. Good buddy of mine has so much dough he will bet $50k on football or baseball in a weekend. So if he wanted the truck, would it matter to him to pay 50k over sticker? Absolutely not.

Slightly OT, but there's a cool dude on Youtube who has owned probably 7 Raptors, including an R. He also just got the TRX, the yellow one, slightly more expensive than the regular TRX. And while he loves it and says there are many things about it better than the R, and he can certainly afford it, he hates going to the gas station every other day for a $120 fillup.

So I wonder here, even though many can afford the R and the ADM, how many of you are blanching at the pump? I know, if you can afford the vehicle mpg means nothing. But that's not always the case. I'm not rich, not poor, but I hate paying to ship packages as it's overpriced. Not that I can't afford to, just a quirk.

i test drove a TRX prior to buying an R, was not impressed at all. salesperson let me launch it too, it drove like a boat...had nothing near the comfort of tthe raptor's suspension. didn't seem as fast an R

I’m not sure how that’s not helpful. It’s an unproven powertrain for this platform that has had a number of issues already. Longevity is a gamble unfortunately

There’s been at least one buy back on this forum.
i got the extended warranty coverage for this reason lol. i am not too confident about the engine lasting long. i'll still drive the ***** out of it tho, i paid for it so i'm gonna drive it.

For what it's worth. He's not a youtube hound. It's not how he makes his money. In fact, sometimes months go by between his uploads. He's a software engineer and car enthusiast. He compares a lot between it and the R, both of which he owns.

One thing he says is the ride is much smoother, almost car like. I've ridden in one 2021 Ram and I felt it had an excellent ride, very car like. However, if I want car like, I'll ride in a car. I want truck like.

I converse with Joe on and off via social media, good guy, he's got some fair video reviews on other vehicles. However, I don't quite follow his statement that the TRX drove better than the Raptor. My experience is the opposite (as someone that had both) - suppose it just comes down to opinion.

Joe did get his R in, as stated in the video, and I'm sure we'll find some of his thoughts outweighing the TRX benefits when that video surfaces.

FWIW - I was fortunate to get my R at MSRP and enjoy it for what it is.

I didn’t mention Adm, but I’ll bite.

Unfortunately, paying ADM for an R does not make you special or unique. There are lots of people on this forum that can afford an R, but chose to wait while this shïtshow of an economy bottoms out.

Wasting your time getting upset with internet strangers over poor financial decisions is pointless.
Yep... wanted a Raptor since the Gen 1s hit the $tealerships. However, could but refused to pay ADM on A-N-Y-T-H-I-N-G for any reason. June of 2020 paid WELL under MSRP for crisp new 802a in the color I wanted. Election coming up and COVID talk already started again. This time I'll leave the mask before I head down to the $tealership.
