Just because its reliable in a lightweight chassis at those power levels does not mean it will be in a 6500lb truck at similar power levels. That being said I'm sure ford will get it sorted. The Raptor R will be powered by the 5.2 Predator. There is no reliability issue with the 5.2. Don’t buy everything people try to sell you.
It is a proven powerplant that is running low 9’s @ 150 MPH with bolt ons in the GT500
It is a 7.3 with a blower. I have posted before but nobody pays attention. I will enjoy all of the comments, but, will enjoy it even more when you all find out I am correct. If you really want to know something, and are willing to do the work, the information is available.
The GT500 is not a lightweight car. It tips the scales at nearly 4200 lbs (heavy for a sports car). There will be some small tweaks very minor to apply it to the Gen 3 Raptor.Just because its reliable in a lightweight chassis at those power levels does not mean it will be in a 6500lb truck at similar power levels. All I am saying is, it is BS for anyone to say the Predator is unreliable. It has been bulletproof.
You have a valid point. I guess we will wait and see. If it is a supercharged or Twin Turbo V8 I am going with it. I would like Ford to use a Billet twin turbo set up on thus. Man, the potential of that set up would be off the wall!GT500 is still light compared to putting that engine in a truck that could potentially weigh close to 5800 lbs. You're asking the motor to lug around an extra 1600+ lbs. What's the GVWR of the GT500? 5200, maybe? Doesn't even come close to the curb weight of a Raptor. Putting that engine into the Raptor is going to be a cooling nightmare. For that much power and load, Ford would be wise to choose a bigger block. The 7.3 would be it and power can be obtained without boost.....whether or not it's daily driveable or efficient enough is tbd.
IMO, the s/c 5.2 is not a good choice...and with Ford Performance announcing a high performance version of the 7.3, I'm leaning towards god/megazilla.
