It's really not as big of a deal as people may think, hell it wasn't long ago that you didn't need a passport at all for Mexico! Plus, in a convoy like the one we'll be leading, you're even LESS likely to have issues.

I don't think there will be issues. I'm just saying there are easy ways to just reinforce yourself while traveling abroad.

I'm looking forward to it, and not bringing my passport book. Everyone I know just takes the card into Mexico.

Having been assigned to the DOS my last assignment and travelling/working in 3rd world countries, it's not that big of deal. Just keep your passport secured like you would your purse or wallet. Easy. The card or book...easy stuff people.

This sounds like something that would be a trip for a good film crew to travel with.

Any experienced Baja Racers or Baja Veterans going?

Is this going to be planned with Mexico State board of tourism?

Have you worked out the logistics with the ranchers? They will be the only foreseen problem.

Maybe someone should get Oscar Ramos involved or at least ask his advice.

Also what about gas? will there be fuel brought down?

Can we bring a "4 seater" ?

I worked with Wide Open for multiple years and traveled up and down baja hundreds of times for races... I can tell you this is some of the best Terrain you will see. Nothing compares to Baja. people, food, roads, dirt, scenery and Ok beverages :)

from Baja Beaches and amazing ocean spots to Pine forest covered snow and back to ocean in less then 8 hours.

From what I read, they have a really good plan in place for the trip. But good questions. And agreed, this is going to be well worth the wait. :)

My girlfriend and I really want to make this trip. Hoping to get my deposit in soon. Then my next hurdle will be getting the Marine Corps to approve my travel into Mexico.

Rob,

I would think it shouldn't be that big of a deal with your CoC if you type up a simple ConOp and ORM worksheet....once you get more details. But I don't know how the Wing works per se.

The more i think about this the more i want to go.

Was this planned around Baja 1000 Pre-Run?

Mexico will be a hot spot during the month of October and Nov.

Just signed up! Gives me plenty of time to get the truck and me ready. Starting with a near stock truck, so need to get on the GPS, radio, rack, and lights.

As far as the passport is concerned, I wouldn't worry too much about it. When I was traveling in Europe I treated it like I would my DL and just always had it on my body. That was all before they started issuing the cards.

This sounds like something that would be a trip for a good film crew to travel with.

We will be filming ourselves, capturing every participants adventure as we go. In addition, we will encourage participants to share any footage they may have taken themselves if they feel it's worth sharing. BlueSVT, who now operates under "Dirt Werx Media" will be putting together a final edit and publishing in Blu-Ray or DVD of participants choice. We have a few new camera setups this year too which we will be using, including aerial videography with a drone.

Any experienced Baja Racers or Baja Veterans going?

The RE organizers are all Baja veterans, and some former racers. We have a few interested participants who are also very familiar with the areas and terrain. Of course, the more the merrier! However, this run is NOT aimed at the hardcore veterans... instead, we encourage any and all Raptor owners who would like a taste of Baja, and Mexico for that matter.

Is this going to be planned with Mexico State board of tourism?

We will not have a partnership with the board of tourism, although the purposes of our multiple pre-runs will be to establish local connections with amenities and authorities long before the run occurs.

Have you worked out the logistics with the ranchers? They will be the only foreseen problem.

As mentioned above, any routes that take us through private areas will be scouted and approved beforehand.

Also what about gas? will there be fuel brought down?

We will ensure our route takes us on the necessary routes to re-fuel as needed. if we find this isn't possible, our chase support crew will have additional fuel cell as well. As noted in the requirements, each participants will be expected to carry 5 additional gallons of gas as well.

Can we bring a "4 seater" ?

Not sure what you're asking here? Supercabs and Supercrews are all welcomed. As long as you have a RAPTOR, you're good to go!

For sure... this is why we have chosen in part to start taking guided groups down to Mexico. The average owner may be inexperienced or intimidated when going alone or in small groups. This allows everybody to feel much more safe in a professional environment with many peers! We will be planning at least 2 full pre-run trips in advance, maybe more depending on the difficulties we find while planning.

In the end, all participants can rest assure this will be a well-organized, professionally run event, like may have come to expect from the Raptor Expedition runs over the years. Definitely taking things to the next level!
