Same thing happened a while back to another raptor owner. His wheel came off while driving! Also happened to my uncle. I've had a guy reset my spare and leave the rod that cranks it up in and I didn't notice till it fell out driving. I always walk around vehicle before I drive off...now

I did my initial oil/filter change and had them rotate all five tires (included my own 7 qrts of AMSOIL and filter). Was told that I ended up 1/2 a quart low, so needed to add once I got the same oil. Turns out the oil level was spot on, and the tech did not even clean off the preservative from the spare used in the rotation. Got home and cleaned it myself. Still had all the stickers on it, too. I let the maint. manager know I was not a happy camper. Tech couldn't read a dip stick correctly? Gotta' stay on top of these guys.

I always pop the hood and do a walk around after I have mine at the dealer. They left the oil fill cap off mine two years ago and I found out about it in Amarillo on the way to a Roundup. What a mess!

Easy solution. Work on your own truck and trust no one. And only take it to the dealership/shop when you have serious issues.

It seems lots of Raptor owners do not work on their trucks, which is a shame. The best part about owning a truck like this one is working on it and making it yours.

I agree, I just do it myself doesn't take long and I know it's done right. Take pics of the odometer and keep all receipts in case I run into a warranty issue

Happened to me when I owned my 2010 XTR before the raptor. Went in for oil change and rotation. Left the afternoon of, and before I even made it off the lot my rear right wheel fell off and the axle banged down. I don't even know if they put the lugs back on, but they replaced the axle and related the day after and gave me a free service plan for the truck. Needless to say I took it else where, unfortunately that dealership is the only 'SVT' dealer so when I got my raptor I kindly reminded them who I was haha have had great prompt service since.

This shit keeps happening. Sucks. I've started checking the lug nuts with a torque wrench after tires come off for any reason. Always inspect any work before leaving the lot. Ask in advance for any old parts before leaving truck with them - to ensure no corners are being cut by the inept.

What PC wouldn't allow Reagan to say:
Don't trust. Verify.

The tire/wheel issue is a very easy fix one i have been doing for over 20 years and it is not rocket science lol. Just watch them do it period. Fortunately I live where there are "Discount Tire" stores and just stand and watch them do everything when I rotate tires. give me a chance to look over the brake system as well.

On oil changes I know the folks pretty well where I go and (also use my own Amsoil) and go under the truck into the underground bay you drive over and take a look at everything.

This is not a hard thing to do if you just take the time and effort to find a place that you develop a relationship with. Sorry but I dont feel sorry for people who do not do this. Yes I learned the hard way when on my 7.3 non turbo Ford in 1990 the Ford store here did not put my oil filler cap back on--What A Mess.... Learned a valuable lesson the hard way... Hell even went back to the bay and watched my tranny fluid being switched out with Amsoil at the Ford house where I bought the truck (Raptor) because of the specialized machine that is used with our fluid temp controlled trannies...

I agree with Boss...build a relationship period...what is the old saying and ounce of prevention...

Unfortunately, I don't know even if I was watching I could catch everything...mistakes happen, but I would think a dealer would have some procedure in place to review and make sure everything is 100% before a vehicle goes out the door...spending an extra 10-20 minutes reviewing the work could save the dealer in the long run...one law suite, and bad press could really hurt a dealer as well...
