Quarters/coins in dvd/cd slot

For this kind of fix, I'd take it to a reputable stereo shop, before taking it to the dealer. I'm sure the shop would be able to tear it down and get the coins out for a reasonable price. If there is no change (you knew that was coming ) in the units behavior after removal of said coins, then I'd take it to the dealer.

I was pissed but I had to laugh when I read that, thanks for the laugh. It helped.

You could try feeding a dollar bill in the DVD slot and see if the change comes out! I know your thinking "smartass" but when your daughter gets married you can tell this story in your father of the bride speech so not all is lost!

I will definitely be telling this as part of the father of the bride speech, I will get her back then....

Ouch! That almost sounds like the old "Peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the vcr" story.

But yes, it sounds like they have shorted something out.

Stuff kids do, just have to remember to be calm....

I took the huge risk and took the whole thing apart myself and removed the coins. Took me just over an hour, I would not recommend this for just anyone to do. Scary part was everything had a sticker on it that says; "SCRAP IF DROPPED" So yes it is all very delicate stuff.

I will post a write up once I figure out how to put pictures in my posts.

Also, as it turns out nothing was shorted out. Maybe,(and this is just a guess)
maybe system has a self protect mode when it senses something is wrong. No fuses were blown, and everything works now, CD/DVD, Radio, NAV, and Phone.

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. And after doing this, I definitely recommend a reputable stereo shop, let them take the risk.
