My 4year old daughter put coins in the slot for the CD/DVD. Now, nothing works. I have the NAV unit and it does not even power up!

Is there an easy way to take this thing apart so that I don't have to go to the dealership and get ***** with labor charges, or get some ******** about me needing a new NAV unit.

I thought about bringing it in and just claiming that it stopped working and I don't know why, but figured once they see the coins inside there, they would not do it under warranty work.

Any help would be appreciated.......

For this kind of fix, I'd take it to a reputable stereo shop, before taking it to the dealer. I'm sure the shop would be able to tear it down and get the coins out for a reasonable price. If there is no change (you knew that was coming :ROFLJest:) in the units behavior after removal of said coins, then I'd take it to the dealer.

Sounds like a nightmare. I'd just go straight to a stereo shop or dealer, I wouldn't mess with this on my own, but that's just me.

I'm voting reputable stereo shop unless you have a long pair of tweezers and a lot of patience/luck. Then once the coins are out, take it to the dealer if it still doesn't work.

Kids are great sometimes eh? My daughter once colored on my new flat screen TV. It came off and now it's just a funny story.

I had this happen to one of my vehicles a couple of years ago. I was driving, heard a pop, and the radio went dark and silent. Fuse was blown, but I couldn't figure out why. Replaced it and it happened again in a day or two. Took it to the dealer, they removed the radio and found the coins. Apparently they were sliding around in there and occasionally shorting something out. No long term damage in my case; radio still works to this day.

You could try feeding a dollar bill in the DVD slot and see if the change comes out! I know your thinking "smartass" but when your daughter gets married you can tell this story in your father of the bride speech so not all is lost!

Ahhh Yes in time this will be a priceless memory of your little girl

Now if you have a steep incline and a plastic knife maybe some change might come out ?

Ouch! That almost sounds like the old "Peanut butter and jelly sandwich in the vcr" story.

But yes, it sounds like they have shorted something out.
