Interesting, this is what I figured it would have been after striking out on the rest of it.

How did you get your dealer to agree to crack open the timing? It seems like Ford is advising them to standby for the time being and not attempt repairs.
I showed them the noise and they called me an hour later with the diagnosis and said parts were ordered. Took about a week to get them from ford though.
Not sure what’s they will do this time.

I wanted to get my service done and the burning smell, also the delayed start checked. Sucks I have a whipple coming by end of the month and SPD downpipes w high flow cats and spd trombone. I dont want to install on a engine that makes noise so they blame me if it lets go.

Mine is currently in the shop for the engine squeak, exhaust rattle and intermittent delayed/rough start. Sent the dealership owner a link to this thread. Service guy said there are open notes in Ford's system on all three items - suggested that Ford is saying the exhaust rattle is "normal"...sure doesnt sound normal to me. Will post update if they come up with anything.

My truck was in service for a month for the sound. They had engineering look at it but determined it was normal because two other brand new R’s made the same noise.

Update: Service couldnt replicate the engine squeak or delayed start (assuming because it has been warmer here). Says there are notes in the system about them from Ford, but no TSB. As to the exhaust rattle, they claim its a baffle in the muffler and have ordered a replacement.

They replaced my muffler as well for the exhaust rattle, it didn’t solve anything. When I took it back they compared it against other new R’s and called it normal. Suggested an after market exhaust lol.

It’s probably the valve rattling. They should have just used a regular exhaust instead of selectable.

They need to cold start and let it run until it reaches the first hash mark on temp gauge. Usually takes a few mins. When mine hits that temp it squeaks everytime until it’s warm. IMG_0708.jpeg
