I've been reading threads here and other jeep and gm sites. Everyone has a different opinion. Seems like guys who work in tire shops are saying follow the door sticker regardless of tire size. Should I be running at 40+ psi? The chalk test at that pressure is a strip in the middle third of my tire. Doesn't seem ideal. Went and ran in the west desert of SLC, UT yesterday for the first time on my new tires at 31 psi. Decided not to air up on the way home and it felt just a bit splashy, but the ride was like a 70s Caddy (in a mostly good way). My first instinct is to bump up to 35. Am I wrong? Advice?

I don't think there's a right or wrong answer here. Other than technically you should always run the factory recommended setting, of course, which is what the tire shops will always tell you for liability reasons.

I used to run 40 front, 38 rear on my OEM KOs. I'm tuned now on account of the whipple so I had them set my low pressure warning down to 30 and I run my Toyo MTs even lower (typically 38 front, 35 rear).

I like to call it the low and slow approach. I like the extra soft ride to soak up the shit roads around here. And I typically don't drive very fast on the street so I don't worry too much about any safety issues that may arise from running high speeds on low pressures.

Yeah I am not lead foot on the asphalt. I like the extra couple of mpg's as well as avoiding the black and whites. And you are running 37s @Truckzor?

37" KO's. I run 40 psi. Mostly street, but run the same off road up here. Seems to be a good psi as the tires are wearing nicely and grip is good.

Did you do a chalk test? How many miles do you have on the tires? Stock wheels? I wasn't kidding, literally only a third of the tire contact patch touched at ~41 PSI.

I've never heard of a chalk test. I have probably 30k miles on them so far. No, I am running Methods today.

I did have stock SE Beadlocks for the first 50k miles though and ran those tires at 40 psi (stock BFG's). They still have around 40% tread left on them.

I'm running 35s. I didn't want to mess around with fenders yet so stayed away from the 37s. Probably going to do a full long travel build at some point so didn't want to put on any more parts that aren't going to stay long term.

Current specs in the link in my signature.

Settled in at 41f/39r. Happy with it. The dry salty winter roads make for a perfect patch test.
