Hey folks, happy to join this forum- finding some GREAT info here! Suddenly got an itch for a 2019 Raptor. Stopped by the local Ford dealer here in Dothan, AL. They had pretty much what I wanted. Asked if I could take a test drive WITH the salesman. He went inside and came back out and said "no, we don't allow test drives on our Raptors unless you are definitely buying". Keep in mind I was asking for a simple, around the block test drive- not a take home for a weekend sort of deal.

My question- has anyone here test drove a Raptor? Did your dealership allow you to take a test drive before you purchased? Had you guaranteed you would buy the Raptor before they allowed the test drive?

I've NEVER been denied a test drive in my life. I drove up on the lot in my 2018 Range Rover (a $100k car). I was very...surprised at this policy.

Is this what you guys have run into???

Pulled up in my 5k commuter Honda civic and drove one. I live in a farm town though where its pretty chill

Thank you guys again for the replies! Raisins, I’d take the truck to the dealer that claimed he can sell them all day long...for any warranty work you might need. Rub. It. In.

Oh no, don't do that—dealers make good money from warranty work. Get your oil changes with discount coupons, they don't make much if anything on those. Make sure to have a cup of free coffee when go say hi to the sales manager.

When I bought my '17 they gave me the keys to go drive it around while I was waiting for them to finish drawing up the paperwork. There was a guy with a Gen 1 in the parking lot that had come to look at the truck I just bought (he saw it online and didn't call ahead so didn't know it was "sold"). It was the only one on the lot so I just told him to hop in with me so he did. We drove around town for a few minutes then I let him drive it for about 30 seconds just so he could feel the acceleration. I've bought 3 Gen 2s now and never got a test drive on any of them. Only got to drive after sale was in process.

Thanks for the replies... I found a dealer nearby (100 miles away) that let me drive one as long as I wanted. Turns out my neighbor bought one from this dealer- had same experience with our local Ford location. So those guys just lost $140k in sales in 5 weeks. I checked- they still have the same Raptors on their lot... At any rate, alls well that ends well I suppose.

You want to test drive something at Bondy’s them see Stevo. He’s the best and if your seriously looking to buy he’ll make it happen. I test drove my last four new purchases with him my last being my 18 Raptor.
