Hey there everybody, I joined a while back and have been reading up day-in and day-out; tons of great info here!

I am torn between a Raptor with the 6.2 and an EcoBoost in either FX4 or Platinum trims.. Luckily I am looking towards the end of summer for my ideal purchase time so I have some time to really work it out. I like the idea of a race red raptor for 2012 so that may be a good deal to wait on, I am partial to red though! Color choices are just one of the decision issues I face with my next purchase, however I already have a slew of modifications planned out for either direction. I am definitely leaning hard towards the raptor, even though I don't off road much (let alone have many places to off road around me) I loved the 6.2, the ride and the looks of the raptor.

Here is my current truck, its a show beauty-street queen but I love it none the less, especially with all the cash I sunk into it.

I am really looking forward to another build up project! Thanks for putting together such a great site, I signed up for two other Raptor sites but have found this one the most useful. Thanks everyone!

Great to have you on the site. That sure is a beauty. Looks like you put a lot into it. If you have any questions just feel free to ask.

Welcome!

Have yet to hear of anyone who bought a Raptor and feels as though they made the wrong choice. They're wide and they're not fuel efficient, but I'm guessing you're familiar with those qualities already.

And if you buy one, you'll wind up wanting to go off road a heck of a lot more.

No clue if they'll do a Red one for 2012. The "red is coming" rumor is from this article: Four Wheeler Magazine's Pickup Truck of the Year is the 2011 Ford F-150 SVT Raptor - PickupTrucks.com News

Thanks everyone!

Droid,

You are correct, MPG's are not a real consideration. They would be nice with the EB, but not a real make-or-break deal. Anything over 10-11mpg I get now would make me happy!

I do have one place here to really off road, the canadian river flats, which I saw another memeber here or on another site ventured to. They are nice, I guess, but that red clay mud will leave nasty stains on the paint, I found that out the hard way 2 trucks ago :buffer:

I think heading up to the mountain trails our out to the desert would definitely be in order after picking up a raptor. All the videos/pictures I see are hard to resist, especially the top gear episode featuring the raptor (even though I found the host to be a D-bag).

I am hopeful on the red, but if it did not come along I do also love the molten orange with orange interior or a simple blue flame. I also was rather fond of the green one someone photoshopped, but red really fits me better!

Welcome!

I don't know about clay marking up new paint, but I hit some brown clay in Drumheller a few months back and it turned the tires blue!!! It wore off after a few washes - but it kinda looked funny for a while.

I don't think red is going to come. I would assume they would keep the signature colors, like the harley davidson.

I can always hope for the addition of race red! I think it would be a great color addition to the line up, but I wouldn't add anything beyond that.

It was an odd occurrence for sure, one that kept me from ever going back. I assume the clay around here has high acidity, or something to that nature because it was like it ate or etched the clear coat. So in bright direct sunlight (this was a semi-dark green paint) it looked all blotchy. Besides the crummy mud down there, the trails are next to never ending!
