GEN 2 PRNDM console lights

Sorry to bump an old thread, but same here. I have a 2020 802A.

I bought it a week ago, and the console lights for PNRDM ***absolutely DID**** light up when I first got it. I know this because I had to keep looking at the console to make sure I was in the right mode, since the stupid Fzcking M is right below Drive.

My light has since gone dark. No idea whats up.

Review this thread. Read it, it will help.

2020 does not come with PRNDM lit up from the factory. If your would have had lights by some miracle, it is an aftermarket mod.

Take your console apart and see what's going on there.

Again, from the factory Ford never put lights in PRNDM in 2019+.

Yes correct. From what I understand, Ford eliminated this feature "mid way" through the 2018 Model Year build.

What color wires need to be tapped on the 2020s for ambient for the shifter light to work?

It’s been a while, but I believe I’d made an OEM connection and tapped into the lane change wiring

When you tap into the Lane Keeping Switch you will want to splice into the wires that are connected to Pin 3 (ground) and Pin 5 (switch illumination). For reference…Pin 1 is located at the narrower end of the switch. Hope this helps!

Also…Wiring Pigtail Kit P/N: 8U2Z-14S411-LA gets spliced into the wires connected to Pins 3 and 5.

Bulb P/N: FL3Z-13466-B is secured under the lettering with super glue. Prior to securing…position bulb under lettering for maximum illumination and note that location.

Will the switch illumination on pin 5 allow for dimming/brightening or is it just one set level? I ended up tapping into the harness below the cup holders (green +, black -) and lettering illuminates but doesn’t dim. I’ll definitely switch it if brightness is an option.
