GEN 2 PRNDM console lights

appears to be the missing part...I will install tonight and see.

I have a 2018 that was built in April and the PRNDM console lights did not light up. The letter are translucent, and I did the fix last week and all is good now.

Has anyone confirmed (tried) the backlight on the "painted" letters? It could be translucent paint/ink.

There appear to be at least two different types of consoles out there. One with translucent letters, these would pass light from behind if you provide a light source. These are not painted on, but rather are either cast in translucent or the entire part is cast translucent and everything else is painted black except the letter/numbers. And then there is a console that appears to be black plastic with white letters painted on. These would not pass light if you provided a light source behind the letters.

This latter type, black plastic with painted on white letters, is the type I was saying cannot be backlit.

And probably there are three, or more, types of consoles. The original translucent lettered consoles with light mounting clips cast in, the translucent lettered ones with no clips, and the black plastic / painted letters. What vehicles get what, or why, I can't begin to guess.

Did mine this afternoon. I did dynamat in the console too eariler (professionally) cut down the noice and squeak. Not sure where the light clip on the harness is supposed to clip to but whatever it's on now I left it hanging. All put back together now.

I think theres more nonesnse going on. 2019 802a. Anyone with a 2018 and below have the lights on the 2 front USB ports light up? Mine do not.

Yeah, late 2018, my USB ports are accented with the blue ring around them.

I have a ring around them like they should light up except......they don’t. This is just stupid. Maybe they should focus on other areas to save money, like the stickers on the tail lights lol.
