in my case, it looks to be not enough tension on the belt because I've started driving while its squeeling and I can here it slipping when I'm accelerating straight.

My dealer found my power steering low during a multipoint inspection as I dropped the truck off the have the tires rotated. They quoted me $325 parts and labor to fix which seems ridiculous. Stated it was a bad high pressure power steering hose. They claim is isn't a warranty item since it's a wear item. I read the 2011 Ford Owner Warranty Guide and it never explicitly identifies hoses as an item being excluded from warranty repair. Plus, it seems that if it's at all possible that the hose going bad was a factory defect then it should easily be covered under warranty.

I sent my info the the Chrystal, the Ford CSR here, and she's escalated my case to a regional CSR manager. Hopefully I don't have to shell out $325 for a stupid hose. If anything, I'd probably just pay for the part and do it myself since I can't really see how replacing a hose and adding fluid would be a $325 job. I can't see how a non-defective hose would fail in 30,000 miles with normal use.

Ya mine is leaking where the hose connects to the cooler.

Mine was leaking at the cooler hose, the one that returns to the res, the dealer, pulled the factory clamp off and replace it with a screw type clamp, and it stopped, but also noticed when I did my res upgrade with cooler, the factory hose that goes from the cooler to the res has a aluminum band clamp in the middle, they also leak at that point, purchase a good piece of hose and replace it from the cooler to the res, using good clamps.

Mine was replaced under the extended warranty. I had waited to get it checked, and it cost me a $100 deductible, because of my mileage. Otherwise, it would not have cost me anything.

The hoses are pretty cheap and the job is easy. My experience with Ford warranty stuff for power steering sucked. I later learned that my year truck (2011) had a TSB that would have potentially prevented the problem that they knew existed and didn't cover under warranty.

I also have a 2011. Can anyone provide me with the TSB info that justcozz is referring to? My reservoir was topped off and I'm driving my truck as is since the service adviser at my dealership told me that they spoke with their manager and they couldn't get the repair approved under warranty. Since it's a very slow leak, I'm just going to see if my customer service case amounts to anything.

I understand that wear items are excluded, but the 2011 Ford Warranty Guide DOES NOT specifically state hoses as an example and adds that exclusion from coverage is usually due to not being able to associate the problem with a potential factory defect. I've had vehicles from other brands with over 100k miles and no hose replacements necessary. I can't imagine a hose failing in 30,000 miles without there being some sort of manufacturing flaw to begin with. My servicing dealership is also not my purchase dealership so I'll probably talk to the dealer I purchased from to see if they have the same opinion on warranty coverage.

If I had been outside of warranty, I would have just told my dealership to do the work in the interest of my time. I am, however, within both the bumper to bumper warranty and powertrain warranties so I simply don't agree with paying for this repair. Worst case I'll just find the time to do it myself if nobody from Ford or a dealership can step up to support their product. It's just wait and see right now.

The TSB I was referring to was in this thread.

http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f183...ering-assist-excessive-steering-effort-13636/

My issue was related to the reservoir filter getting clogged or insufficient fluid getting through the system. I burned a PS pump up and had to change both the pump and reservoir. My issue happened during a FRF run while the truck was under 36,000 miles. I drove the truck home and took it to the dealer at just over 36,000 miles. They refused to do anything because I passed the deadline. I didn't know about the TSB at the time or I would have pushed even harder.

A leaking line may not be covered but you'll have to fight that one.

110% should be warranty covered. I'd recommend a new dealer...permanently.

I hate warranties just for this reason. They can attempt to weasel their way out of most anything.
