I just got my truck back from Ford after preforming the TSB. I’ve made it 18 miles and no CEL. It’s the longest I’ve driven without it popping up. This could be the fix we’ve all been waiting for

Sounds like a frustrating start, but glad they got it cleared up! It’s interesting to hear about the assembly process and how a missed plug could trigger that code. Hopefully, it’s just a minor oversight and nothing serious. Keep an eye on things, and let us know if anything else comes up.

Just got my CEL for the first time today with about 2900 miles. First issue I’ve had with the truck. No catch can and only the ford performance air filter (stock intake) but not sure if that makes any difference. I guess I need to schedule an appointment for the software upgrade and hope that fixes it

Update- I cleared the MIL and the light never came back on but I’m at the dealership now waiting to get the PCM software update. They did say some conditions only needed the software update and others needed that plus the crankcase vent tube. We will see which one I get.

Update: just the flash no parts were swapped. This has been the only issue I’ve had with this truck and it was a super easy fix. Hoping for more trouble free miles and smiles!

Thanks guys, this thread was super helpful for me in talking with the shop foreman at my local ford dealer.

Hi everyone!

My dealer says that since my car was manufacture “after” the stated date in the TSB the fix won’t work… wondering if anyone has any insight to help me out. I’ve had my beast for only a few days and barely reached a 100 miles then the P2C90 nightmare CEL popped up :(
It’s been at the dealer for a couple of weeks now with no progress.

Thanks everyone for this helpful thread I was genuinely impressed with all the expertise and methods used to tackle this matter even before the TSB. I just hope more people have this appreciation and love for cars as we all do!

I think they should try it anyway but dealers can be stubborn about that. I wonder if yours is hardware related? Maybe you need the vent tube? Have you cleared the CEL? I only ask because my CEL didn’t come back after I cleared it, but I did the TSB a few days later anyway.

Hi there!

Yes I replaced the tube and cleared the CEL, but the dealer is still refusing to perform the TSB… stubborn as you predicted… I guess I’ll have to wait and see if the CEL comes back. I’ll keep you guys posted!
