Odd question but I did a transmission fluid change (just pan volume) about 1000 miles ago. Long story but I ended but “tracking” fluid into my truck from my shoes/spilt fluid and have been smelling it ever since. Fast forward and washed the interior of the truck (weather techs) and seat last weekend. And I still smell the trans fluid, but not when I get in the truck, only after driving it longer distances (more than grocery store). Now I am convinced I smell the sent of “burnt oil/trans fluid” when I step out of the truck when I stop after those longer trips. The truck drives and shifts fine. What I am concerned with is when finalizing the fluid level, I was in a rush and ran the truck on the lift for 15 minutes , jumped in and checked the “temp gauge”….i am thinking I looked at the coolant gage and not the transmission gage when I finalized the fluid level. Assuming I am right (or really wrong) and the fluid was still “cold” but set to the hash marks on the transmission dipstick, what are the consequences of running “too much” transmission fluid ?
