i'm still in the debate stage, though am heavily leaning towards getting a raptor. at this point i am also considering a hyundai genesis coupe. i know-- big difference..

still not sure if i would buy new or used, that will be decided once i start comparing financing..

currently, i own a 2001 mitsubishi eclipse convertible that i've had for about 4-5 years or so, and am slowly running out of modifications i can do to it, and i am getting to the point where 'dropping the top' is becoming more of a hassle then a a fun thing to do on a warm day.

as of the last year or so, i have become addicted to lighting mods (hidplanet.com ;) )--i recently completed one of the first high power led reverse lamp builds--that outputs around 3-4,000 lumens. and as much as i would love to mount a brush bar to the front of my current car, i just can't see how 4-6 kc hilites would ever look good on a little convertible..

so the natural answer for a platform that i can mount tons of lights on is a truck.. so originally, i started looking at newer f-150's, because i haven't been a gm fan since the 02 redesign, never really interested in ram, and GM keeps putting the american version of the holden ssv on the back burner.

so i'm just surfing, gathering whatever info i can on the platform in the next couple months/years before i make a decision.

thanks for reading!

IMO, on the surface the choice seems simple.
After your explanation about the truck manufacturer's choice to F-150 and your love of lighting mods, the Raptor is pretty much a no-brainer.

But why a Hyundai Genesis instead of any other coupe? There are dozens of other coupe options.

But I am sure of one thing: if you don't want to be noticed, get the Hyundai.

^ there appear to be more then a couple used/preowned raptors in my area(i still don't understand how anyone could buy a car only to sell it a couple months later) so that isn't too much of a issue, though does nag me a little..

originally i was leaning towards the 350z, but i just like the lines of the genesis better. i am not very big into muscle cars, so not-so-fast sports cars are the next best thing. and there is a small fear of what my rather large right foot would do with a large motored, road hugging sports car. lifted trucks just can't take corners that fast, so my cornering expectations are completely different.

i've been spending too much time here.. if i buy a raptor, i figure it's gonna end up costing close to $50k in mods to complete..

so i might as well post a possible mod list..

stuff to buy & install:
1. 1 kc highlights/ford light bar
2. 4 kc highlights pod-- driving/long range layout undetermined--either 2 of each, or 4 of one
3. 2 baja designs 20" lightbars(because ridgid won't publish what led's they use)
4. 1 baja designs stealth mounting kit.
5. 4 ford fusion hid-compatible fog lamps--need custom brackets for bumper opening..

still looking for a bed mounted rollbar/lightbar for 4-8 more lights(i would like one that i could mount a spare tire to as well--for good looks)..

stuff to make:
hid retrofit
led tails, turns, and whatever else i can convert to led
high power led reverse lights

i think that is it for now.. time for more searching-- there has got to be some other ideas for adding more light..
