I have a portable hard drive that only needs one USB to work but when I plug it in to either one of the USB ports in the center console, MFT doesn't see it. It has two lights on it but only one lights up. Is there less voltage on the truck USB ports.

Right now it was just be eaiser for me to have everthing on a hard drive then an Ipod.

its either fat32 or ntfs. Does it have to one or the other for it to work?

I wish 160 gig classic ipods where cheaper. I don't really want to buy a used one.

On the 12s and older the drive has to be formatted to Fat32 to work correctly.

13's as well.

Fat32 is a must.

I'm not exactly sure why since this is a microshaft system and everyone of their operating systems has been NTFS for the past decade, but that's how it is I guess... :whymewhyme:

Oh, and for the record, I bought and installed an HGST Touro 1TB portable Harddrive in mine for around $80-90 or so. Ample space and it works great (just had to reformat in FAT32). Depending on how hard you drive your truck, you may want to look at an SSD instead. It would handle the hard bumps from off roading better.

SSD is in the future but I got a 1tb for 66 dollars at best buy today. Does anyone know if exFAT will work, Cause apperantly with windows 7 you don't have the option to format in FAT 32.

Download and use this. 2Tware Fat32

This is what I used in win 7 and it worked perfectly.

FAT32Format works as well...
Download FAT32format 1.05 Free - FAT32format is able to easily format large hard disks in FAT32, even in Windows XP. - Softpedia

By the way, before you run out and buy a gigantic hard drive, be aware there is a file count limit on voice commands.

At least this was true in my 2011 ecoboost. at around the 15,000 song count the nice ford lady came on and said: "Due to the number of tracks, voice commands are not supported." or some such thing. AARG!

I haven't had a chance to confirm this with the 2013 and MFT.
