Hey guys. I purchased the Pop n Lock PL8250 to be installed in my new 2013 Raptor with tailgate step. I was uncomfortable doing the install myself on my brand new truck so I paid to have the dealership do the install. My thoughts were it should be simple for a certified technician, based off ao reading threads about people here that have done the install themselves.

Well I was wrong. First off it seems like when I talk to people about automatic tail gate lock they look at me like I am speaking a foriegn language.

The technician worked on it for supposedly 3 hours and was unable to get it working. I do not have the specific detail yet, but I plan on talking to the technician when I go pick up the truck later today.

So after all that explaination, has anyone done this install to their 2013 or have any idea why the technician would not have been able to install it.

I had my dealer install a PowerGate in my 2012. I'm assuming this is the same type of thing. They installed it with no problems and it works great.

Thanks for the info.
PM sent.
Heading to the dealer shortly to get my beast back and talk to the guy to see what his issues were. Will post an update after I get back.

Well I talked to the technicians at the dealership and they said they had everything installed and kept blowing fuses and showing overload in the Smart Junction Box. They said it was a cheap part and there was too much resistance on the solenoid that was causing the short.

So between that and them also saying it doesn't work with the tailgate step I am just dumbfounded with this.

I got the PPT and it looks straight forward, but I am not sure if my truck has issues, the lock has issues, or the technicians are just not smart enough to figure this out.

here, on frf
whats the model number? i looked at a few on their website and saw it was a 2 wire actuator. those are a 5wire setup, so if they did not use relays then they definitely would have blown fuses.
