I read through some of this thread (holy hell its a long thread) and from what I understand:

A) Plastidip = cheap, easy to apply, easily changed

B) Plastidip shows all the scratches/dings from being offroad...so is this more of a pavement queen look? Or do you just re-plastidip everytime the scratches become unbearable?

C) plastidip doesn't really provide protection just cosmetic appeal?

D) a spray trigger would be helpful to make the spray more even

Am I right here? And also, could I plasti-dip the hood, roof, rims, fenders, bumper on my own or do I need a second person to help with lifting or removing parts?

I like the idea of using plasti dip to test out some designs but I'm not liking the bug guts dissolving it/scratches/dull look when its dirty...paint and wrap is more expensive but probably a better idea for the long run.

Is this plasti dipped?

Yes, it is plastic dip. Grey metal. I applied pearl metallic on top of it so the current color looks like aluminum.

Not quite cheap if you go with metalize. $90/gal.

Plastic dip or vinal wrap cannot protect ding or hard impact. However, it prevent or minimize scratches.

Vinyl wrap cannot protect neither.

Yes.

You can plastic dip any parts you want. I plastic dipped my mugen wheels. It has been 3 years and it is still good.

Vinyl wrap or plastic dip can serve your propose. However, plastic dip is alow cheaper. I wrapped my Civic Mugen Si and costed $900. I dipped the same car for around $300 with pearl metallic.

Hope I answered your questions / concerns.

Truck looks good but it's only going to last a few months. I did my fender flares and it only last two months after my first off road test. And yes I did everything right, prep and good coverage. A waste of 20 bucks honestly! Don't mean to rain on your parade just a heads up.

Plasti-dip is a cheap way to say "How would this look?" That's why I did one side white and one side black. Now I know to wrap/linex my flares black.

Not to mention $600 to dip your whole truck in a different color vs. a 3k wrap or 5k paint job.

It's a good way to try out a look that's for sure.

You can't really get a refund on your paint job bc you just don't like it like you thought you would.

UniqueOne,

Nice job on the dip. I've got a white '14 coming in December and have been planning to dip it with DipYourCar aluminum. What was the base color of your truck? Did you decide to do anything inside the doors? How did you manage the area where the cab meets the bed? Did you use about 4-5 Gallons & 4-5 coats? Anything tips or suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

did you remove the flares when you dipped them?

Nope. Just taped really carefully and sprayed it. I would reccomend that if you're going to do the flares in white, put down a base coat of grey. Otherwise you're going to use 3-4 cans for one side and the darkness of the flare will still bleed through.
