For those who have ordered or are planning to order the Gen 2, will you be purchasing an extended warranty? Do you plan on purchasing it at the time of sale from the dealership or searching around for a good deal? What extension (year/mileage) are you considering and why?

If the price is right I will. If I can get something decent under 2k ill do it.

Id like somethning 100k 5-6 years or so. Deductible is negotiable.

Theres a good thread in this in the GEN1 forum where guys are discussing pricing vs durations etc. I did also learn in there that there are a few good dealers that will give you a pretty rock bottom rate after the purchase too is your still within certain parameters.

I will probably pick one up in the last year or 12k miles of the factory warranty.

I was able to get best price on an extended warranty on my last Volvo from a Volvo dealer in Rhode Island. They beat my local dealer by several hundred dollars...exact same warranty...they sell way more Volvo warranties than anyone else. Anybody know if there's a volume Ford dealer who does this?

Never buy extended warranties, until I need them. Which in the case of Mustangs and Raptors is never. I will void them more than likely after the factory warranty, if it breaks it is upgrade time. On the other cars, if I happen to keep it past the factory warranty, I will shop around for an extended drivetrain warranty near the expiration.

The only real benefit of adding one at time of purchase is ability to roll it into the loan. You can add these same plans anytime before the 3yr/36k warranty expires, and through the dealers mentioned In threads here, Likley way cheaper than your purchasing dealer.

That said, getting a plan is really a no brainer. Should you decide to sell or trade it in, you can get a prorated refund of the remaining plan. If the buyer of your truck sees the value in it, it's an easy process to transfer

You can get a 5yr100k plan for $1300, one power steering issue and it's paid for itself

go online, get a quote, print it out. when you buy your raptor, show it to the finance person, ask them to match or beat it.
