can u evin see the perch notches without compressing the shock and moving the blue bottom shock piece on a 10-12?

I would say no.

The question to new guys ... do you even know what to look for? If you don't then you will not see it. I can come over and let's take off your wheel and compress the spring. Then we will know for sure. :)

I picked up 2013 about 10 days ago and after reading this thread, went out to check. Sure enough, there is no (outward) appearance that the front shocks can be adjusted. I then stood back and looked at the truck's "stance" and it looks level -- that is to say it is in the mid perch position.

I am fixing to try to set mine to mid perch on Sat. Mine is les less than 3 weeks old. So I definitely hope that this is not true.

I seriously doubt Fox changed anything let alone change their shocks without letting Ford know. Their contract to supply Ford with shocks is prob easily the biggest contract they have ever had and in no way would they jeopardize it by making a change without Ford's full approval. If there was a change, it would be Ford making a request to Fox to do so.

If Ford did indeed have FOX take change the forward shocks without saying anything....that is sneaky...

Ford might not even know what if anything Fox has done...

I wouldn't trust any "guy" from the dealership even if he has one. MAYBE if his truck was sitting higher than yours and same year, ect....

I wouldn't be able to tell myself until you go to the middle setting at least. If for some odd reason ford allowed fox to change..... I would have to guess, MAYBE for the added security and less chances of improper adjusting causing warranty claims or improper wear characteristics they might see more often than desired. Just a guess. So it makes sense in a way. It'll also push the envelope for owners to wanna purchase Fox's 3.0 as well. A pro for each company. I always think of the common sense approach for changes of this nature. Sure would suck in my opinion. I'd be sorry to hear it though.

Stock "low/bottom perch" setting:

Notice how you see no rings? Now look at a "top perch":

I think your dealer friend is cornfussed.

PS: WTF is an "adjustment pin", anyway?

I just went out and checked my 13 but could not see any slots but if on the bottom one the other two may be blocked from view.

I did the mid perch on my old 10 but have not decided if I will do my 13. I was worried about the half shaft angles last time.

I attempted to do my mid perch on father's day via the RPG method. There's is no way you can tell if a shock has adjustment rings until you remove the wheel. And even with the wheel removed you have on your back looking up right under the shock and you can barely make out the round lock wire that rest in the grove. But I agree with you, it is impossible to tell unless you are compressing the spring.

On the other hand, I hope Ford/Fox did make this change as guys who have the Fox "adjustable" shock now can sell them easily to new guys who want the mid perch stance. :)
