GEN 2 path through the firewall

My best guess the head unit or the sony amp lessen the signal sent to the sub. Therefore the signal going into the amp is less while the engine is off, and drawing less power while the alternator isn't spinning. May not be a way around it without disabling auto start stop......

if you route to a separate amp for the sub, that solves the problem - right?

Unfortunately no. That's what i have done. The Sony amp feeds the sound signal to the separate amp and it appears to be the cause of the lowering sound signal to the separate amp for the new sub. It's getting plenty of power since i connected it directly to the battery
