Thanks for perspectives. It's not overly concerning but it's noticeable where as @GCATX put it "rolls several inches" back and forth. I suppose the only concern is when parking and I have a car in front or to the rear. I do need to build some distance as the rolling of the truck would potentially hit the other vehicle. Maybe it's just my truck... will talk to SM at Ford next time I'm in.

Use your parking brake and set before putting it in park. That's what it is for.

Never have noticed it doing something like this.

Pretty level in these parts so I've never felt the need to use the parking brake. Maybe consider using it with a hot date at a drive-in movie tho......

Yeah, I’ll do that. It’s just it’s never happened before on level topography. I totally understand for slanted driveways or different grades, but this is on completely flat surfaces. It’s still sway back-and-forth. It’s really weird.

Appreciate the response

Years (like 40) ago I witnessed a truck go rolling down a hillside (on it wheels) out of control. The driver had left his 7 year old son in the truck while he got out to scout for deer.

About 800 yards down the hill was a 200 ft cliff.

His son had gotten restless and moved around the truck kicking the shifter out of gear (manual trans)

Driver said he didn't set park brake because it was seized. Because he never used it.

I told myself right then ALWAYS USE THE PARK BRAKE!! SO IT WONT SEIZE WHEN YOU NEED IT!!

Anyway about 8 of us watch helplessly as the truck goes rolling down hill faster and faster. The truck had a big heavy winch bumper and about 200 ft from the cliff going at what I would guess was over 40mph the truck hit a mound of dirt or big sage brush and became slightly airborne. It nosed down and that bumper dug into the ground and stopped the truck.

Otherwise that truck and kid were dead.

Kid was banged up but alive.

Level ground or not I always set parking brake.
