Did you scuff it up any or just shoot it? What did you use....rattle can?

I am interested in the fender flares.
Did you take them off to paint and rattle can them?

Sorry for all the questions.

Yeah, I'm thinking black flares, etc when I get new bumpers. Did I see somewhere that someone did plastidip just in case they decide to go back with original look later? Don't know how well that would hold up though

No worries at all ask all the questions you want!

Yea I took 180 grit sand paper and scuffed up the plastic on both the grill and the flares. I used model spray paint for both because its made for plastic and hold up pretty well.

The flares come off somewhat easy it helps to have a long set of needle nose pliers to help squeeze the clips when pulling them off. I sprayed about 3 Coates of flat black ad about 3 coats of flat clear coat over that.

Motumute: yes you are correct someone was talking about using plasti dip but I don't know if they ever got around to doing it. It seems like a good idea but I'm not sure how it would hold up off road but it never hurts to try

Oh and after you sand them down be sure to wash them with soapy hot water and a green scratch pad then just use hot water to wash off the soap and other stuff that could be left on them after sanding this gets all the nasty dirt and sand particles out and keeps it nice and clean

Well after I did one paint mod myself, I feel comfortable doing more. Plus it's cheaper to do it yourself.

Oh he'll yea it's a lot cheaper and a lot easier then most people think. As long as you prep it right you're good to go! I had a guy at a local paint shop tell me he wanted to charge me like 150 bucks to paint my flares. I laughed at him and told him politly to go **** himself lol

I'd turn my garage into a paint booth if I didn't live in a damn neighborhood. Last year I repainted a bumper and they called the cops on me because of the smell. Damn prissy bastards. That and my wife would probably kill me when the whole house smells like paint. Lol

Haha yea the smell is the only thing that would gue it away. I have a big she's in my backyard that I could easily turn into a paint booth it wouldn't fit a whole car but other stuff I could easily paint

A friend of mine said he would paint all 4 flares for $200.

I will be painting mine to match the color of the body. Valspar Rattle can is looking very tempting.
