Talked to my trusted local body shop yesterday about painting the flares and door/ tailgate handles on my race red raptor. He doesn't think it would be durable, any experience from the guys who have done the mod?

What makes it any worse than the way it currently is? If it gets scratched painted or stock it's still gonna be scratched. Lol

he was worried about peeling and flaking or more appropriately the paint adhering to the plastic, not scratching.

The reason that it is not as durable is your painting onto a plastic, which does don't hold paint. However I have painted my Grill / Flares / Handles - and thus far its held up quite well.

You will def. get what you pay for when painting on plastics.

He's a great guy and very good at what he does, so he is just giving the proper warning. I realize there is risk when painting plastic. Was just looking for feedback to those that have painted the flares and handles. Wanted to see if rock chips caused chipping (more than normal) or peeling and if the handles were chipping at all, due to rings and such?

Prep work is the biggest key with painting. If done right everything should be just fine.

Mine sticks just fine. It's all about the prep work. Do not paint the textured door handles! Buy the FX4 smooth handles first. That's why he's afraid of it flaking. The flares are not textured so your fine there. Tell him to take his time prepping. Tell him not to rush. Everything will be fine.

How about Line X on the fender flares? If so does anyone have pic of theirs?
