I would give some thought to tinting your tails, especially in an urban area. Getting asspacked because someone didn't see you well enough from behind is not very much fun.

You can spray it yourself. Scuff with scotchbrite and water. Spray until you are happy with the shade.

I tried this out. Took off the lights and sprayed in my garage. It came out looking like....I sprayed them in my garage.

Still have it on the 3rd brake light too, and it's been my main motivation for considering an aftermarket light.

This is that led Putco bar I installed, love it because it’s only functional when you hit the brakes or change of lanes, it’s called the BLADE

I've considered this, but it tends to look like you want to do a cheap easy mod to the truck and this is the best you could come up with. Also, I have reverse lights already, so adding this will be a bit more complicated on the wiring.
