So I took the Raptor out to Pismo/Oceano Dunes for the day on Saturday and had a blast. It was my first time driving on sand dunes and I slowly got the hang of it. After a few hours of driving around I decided to head out for the day. On my way off the dunes and back onto the beach I got stuck in a pretty deep/steep sand bowl. I had to air down to about 18lbs to get out. I gunned it to get the momentum to climb out and to my relief it leaped out. Unfortunately the dune I was coming down off of was way too steep and when I reached the bottom the front end plowed into the sand. The front and passenger side of the bumper took the impact and it bent it pretty good. The top skid plate took a little bit of damage as well. I guess I should just be glad the bumper was there to do its job and I don't have any body/ drivetrain damage.:bawl:

I had planned on getting an aftermarket bumper at some point but this wasn't exactly how I wanted to end up going about it. I'm leaning pretty heavy to Wicked Performance's new Outlaw bumper. I'll end up ordering a new one prob around the end of Feb once I do some research and make a final decision.

Great looking battle scar!

Happy bumper hunting...

I got a good scar too last Thursday and I'll post a pic later when there's daylight. Mine had no excitement really, some chick driving an 18' UHaul cube van couldn't navigate the turn at a gas pump and damn near took my whole front clip off while I was filling up.
The reason I'm posting on this thread (other than sympathy for your loss JHAWK!) is that I noticed how easily the steel portion of our stock bumpers fold or bend so easily.
My replacement will be an insurance job with an OEM stock bumper because I'm dumping the truck in summer or fall. But with the un-road-worthy deer road-kill here in Alberta rivalling that of south Texas, I will definitely be going with a solid bumper from either Wicked, ADD, or SDHQ for the new Raptor.

$100,000 delivered, with a full tank of gas and one of them cardboard pine air fresheners hangin off the rearview mirror.

J/K - dealer trade in value will forgive a lot of the abuse I've put her through in two years and I'm looking at building a 2013 with some modern headlights etc.
