Yesterday I did the Raptor Expeditions desert Heat run. 420 miles. 15 hours of fun in the desert. I was averaging 7.8mpg while using Offroad Mode. Tires were deflated to 25psi on all 4 corners. Myself, passenger, spare gas, floor jack, tools, two spares, full ice chest, 3 suitcases, and my trust Stanley Fat Max power inverter=1,000 pounds. Needless to say I knew I was gonna get bad MPG

Aired my tires to 45psi this morning when I filled up my tank. Hit the highway just off the Vegas strip and reset my MPG AVG. Entering the highway i was at 7.8 mpg , full tank of gas showing I had 204 miles til empty.

Here's my drive. It was 4 hours and 288 miles.

I hit the freeway and didn't encounter a single episode of traffic. I was able to use cruise control between 65-75MPH. When I pulled up to my door at home, I WAS AMAZED.

I had used less then half a tank, and had 214 miles til empty! My average went from 7.8 to 14.0. Half a tank to get 288 miles. Incredible what controlling your speed and RPMs can do!

I have to say I'm quite happy. My last 8 trucks have been chevy 5.3s. Either avalanches or suburbans. When i got my raptor i was worried it would be bad. I put on a lot of miles and didn't want to go broke paying for fuel. Well it has 5500 miles on it and i went on a trip to bc. On the way home at 120 kph(75) i got 17.66 mpg. I had a hour of driving 145kph (90) on that tank too. 17.66 canadian that about 15 american. Thats damn close to what my gms got and this thing is way more fun ! So far I'm loving it. I have a 87 tune on it

Towing the Stang to Myrtle Beach and back. Tow weight was just shy of 6,000lbs, used nothing but 93oct, and she's basically stock.

Overall trip avg:

I would of gotten better, but my buddies were all towing with diesels and we were hauling ass otw down. We all left at different times, so otw home I avg in the mid / high 12's which brought the trip avg up.

According to that you only avg about 45mph on the trip, not sure that qualifies as hauling ass.

Considering that's a Trip Avg.. meaning on the way there, the way back, and anytime we spent sitting around in traffic.

So if I was doing 100 mph otw down, sat in beach traffic for a few hours, and took my time at a leisurely pace otw home, the avg wouldn't look like I was hauling ass now would it?

Just drove over 1700 miles from little rock Arkansas to great falls mt, bed loaded with gear, and 5 people in the truck, my topper on with the yakima whisper bars on top,

Ran 91 octane the whole way , went through Denver Co. Rapid city SD, and then billings mt and finely great falls.

Obviously up hill from 300 ft MSL at little rock to 6000 feet at Denver , then down to 3600 for great falls.

Overall mileage for the 1700 plus miles and some city driving as well in all the stops was 14.7 at 70-75 average speed.

All on the factory oil , and I just rolled 4700 total miles.
Not bad I say!

Stock truck other than my Ford Racing exhaust. Tires were at 44 psi

No but a trip with a lot of slower speed driving and idling doesn't give a good representation for your AVG MPG either. If one my buddies tells me they got great mileage towing while hauling ass I expect an 75+ mph avg. I am in Texas though and that's probably not a realistic expectation for the east coast.

put some more miles on and you'll see improvement

at 13k miles now, my lifetime MPG is 14.5.

The last few thousand miles - 15.6
and for last few hundred miles - 16.4

I have a 5 star 87 perfomance tune, a drop in K&N filter, and turn downs on my stock muffler

I was running NO muffler from ~19k-11k and saw a reduction in MPG
