Good question.

It has already seen plenty of water and dirt so far and zero issues. I am interested to see how it handles a Chicago winter with lots of road salt.

The unit certainly appears very stout and heavy duty and it think it may be all stainless steel, so I am hopeful it will take it without issue. I will spray it down with an anti-corrosive before the snow starts dropping.

Same worries here in Denver. I guess there's one way to find out. I may explore putting the compressors near my winch instead, but I don't think they'll fit.

It really is a perfect spot. Does not get in the way of the bumper step area and super easy access. I got the plastic cap at Ace Hardware. They sell 4 in a pack for like $3 and it fits perfect over the quick connect.

As you said, the quick connect is threaded, so I just drilled a hole through the bumper area (even know its plastic, it is pretty think so no additional support required. Threaded the quick connect through hole and its perfect.

So, I stopped by Ace to get those little covers and couldn't find them. They had no idea what I was talking about. Any idea what they were actually called? Anywhere online to find them?
Did you use a water filter with your setup?

Nice install Big Blue! I had mine back there as well, but found the plastic a bit too flimsy for my comfort. It seemed only a matter of time until it cracked and let go. But maybe where yours is is more sturdy?

Here's my current solution. Not at all easy, but maybe it will give you some ideas. By the way the "cap" is nothing more than one of those rubber feet used for furniture or the end of a cane. You should be able to find one at any local hardware store.

^^^ Very sweet set-up J! Nice fab job and dual quick connects.

Dane,

Looking forward to seeing yours too. Yes, a 5 gallon tank is kinda big for a frame mount. Regarding the caps, I will have to take an iphone pic next time I head over there. I remeber they had a number of different sizes, and these fit perfect..although Big J's idea of a walking cane end cap is brilliant too.

No pictures yet, but I finished my onboard air install and it's pretty slick! It consists of two 1/2HP compressors and a 5 gallon tank. It's tricky, but I managed to fit it ALL above the spare tire. The compressors are independently wired to the battery with the pressure switch/relays wired to my Aux 4 so that while the system will regulate itself at 150psi, I have control in the cab as to whether or not I want it to. I ran my quick connect out right by the license plate just like mentioned earlier on in this thread. We'll see how it stands the test of time, but for now I'm pretty happy! I'll try to get some pictures at some point - I spaced it while working on it. It was freezing and I just wanted to be done. My hands are beat to hell from trying to maneuver all the stuff around in the cold.

Next up, TRAIN HORNS!!
