@Svtweb if/when you figure it out the expensive way I'd like to know if you know of a less expensive way just to get the ice blue colors for the footwell and rear passenger area.

aftermarket is going to be the only inexpensive way. what he is doing, is oem integration with oem parts, and we all know how cheap oem parts are

Yeah he's got over a grand in it now. That's why I would like a cheaper route with the OEM lights so the colors match.

If time isn't an issue, you can source your parts via salvage yards or EBay. I chose the new, OEM route because my truck is a month old and wasn't going to put anything less than new into it. I'm sure with a little effort you could adapt the ford accessories kit with the OEM interior parts, but that will still cost a lot.

@AbnMP13 - If you want a factory look and don't want to spend $1000+, this is your best option. This is what I did and only cost me the price of the side and rear center console panels where the LED lights are mounted. I have the LEDs tapped into the PRNDL shifter lights for power to only illuminate ice blue, so when the interior lights are on - the ice blue floor lights are on. Looks factory and cost me less than $50 and under 1 hour labor.

I definitely appreciate the time, effort, and money that Svtweb has invested in this mod, but with the size and dollar amount on my Raptor parts wish list, there are a lot of things I would rather spend $1000+ on. With that said, I'm glad he's here and sharing his process... this is the type of member and thread that makes FRF great. Excellent job @Svtweb and even more excellent to share the process along the way!

So upon initial installation and power up, the ambient lighting was a light purple shade. This would be close to all 3 LED's running at partial power.

After I programmed the HVAC module with the correct coding from the 2014 Platinum the ambient lighting defaulted to the "Ice Blue" to match all the interior lighting.

We are close.... Very, very close.

I could just stop the project here and call it a day, but then it wouldn't be a total success.

Now if I could have the assistance of the collective brain power of the group. I now need to change the "As Built" coding for the APIM. I already have a test plan to go through the 9 bytes that are different so we can isolate the parameter that needs to be changed.

I have my own VCM2 and IDS, but the APIM doesn't show up as a module that can be changed. What is strange is I connect to my friends 2013 Edge and the APIM shows as a changeable module.

Any insight would be appreciated.

you may need to try a PMI procedure as if you where replacing the module. As its programming for the "new" APIM it will ask for AS-built during this process

UPDATE:

Went to the dealer and spent an hour or so looking at various ways to reprogram the APIM to change the as-built to enable the ambient light setting in the touch screen. Thus far no-joy. Going to place a call to the Ford Tech hotline and see if they can do a little miracle making.

Have not given up yet.

The only way to program the APIM is thru the Ford tech's website PTS. You need a login and VCM/IDS. There are three options: module replacement, standard and custom. A tech should be able to use custom programming and select ambient lighting in addition to the rest of the stock options like navigation, English language, SVT logo

Did that... Between the two of us we had more brain power operating than most governments.

Under custom, the only options were for language, regional emergency services options and graphics packages. Nothing for ambient lighting.

Just to see if the menu selection was triggered by an outside source, I recoded the BCM with all the coding from the platinum. Needless to say, Mr. Raptor was not happy with said coding, no hill decent, VIN mismatch with ABS unit (all expected) but it also didn't provide the menu item on the touch screen. Coded it back to my VIN and everyone was happy again.
