In case any were debating getting a center console safe, I have attached a pic of the OEM safe I installed so they could see what it looks like.

As someone who (part time) sells gun safes/RSCs, I have a little bit of perspective regarding these sorts of products, and tend to evaluate them with that perspective in mind. With that said, my thoughts on the two console safe designs are as follows:
I don't know which design (Lock 'er Down (LD) or Console Vault (CV)) was released first, but it seems like the guts (supports, etc... inside the console) of the LD product are the same as the CV product turned 90 degrees (or vise-versa, whichever was released first).
I GREATLY prefer the CV design for the following reason: the internal supports for the lid/door of the safe are oriented towards the front and (more importantly) the rear of the vehicle. If you look at the center console as installed in the vehicle, access is effectively blocked from four of six possible (front, back, left, right, top, bottom) directions. Both the LD and the CV designs block/combat access from the top, so that's (for the purposes of this discussion) a non-issue. Access from the front is blocked by the rest of the console, and access from the sides is effectively blocked by the driver's and passenger's seats. Access from the bottom is effectively blocked as well, by the floor of the cab (and, in all honesty, probably the tail housing of the transmission and/or transfer case, as well). It is that last direction... access from the face of the console that faces the rear seats... that is the differentiator in these two designs.
As I mentioned, the CV design has supports/walls oriented along the front and rear of the console, thus acting as a layer of steel to impede access if someone were to, say, kick in the back face of the center console (or use an onboard tool, such as the lug wrench, to break/cave it in). Conversely, the LD design has its supports/walls oriented along the sides of the console, where access is already blocked/limited by the front seats... AND it leaves the rear console face exposed to the type of attack that I mentioned above. Watching the installation video for the CV, the supports/walls are hinged off of a bottom plate, which serves to secure them at the bottom of the console, while they're secured at the top of the console with a couple of studs/nuts that are accessed from "inside" the console.
Don't get me wrong, I have no illusions about the ability of either design to be able to withstand any sort of serious attack, but between the two designs, I am confident in saying that the CV approach is superior and will be more likely to preserve your secured items should anyone spend any time at all trying to circumvent the locked access door.
