Will this radio work with your radios?
The Cobra MR HH125 is a fully featured VHF radio with a rugged compact design. It?s perfect for recreational boaters or as a portable backup on larger vessels. It comes standard with a removable spring loaded belt clip, lanyard and DC cigarette lighter charger. Anyone who lives, works or plays on the water needs one of these VHF radios. It is packaged with long-lasting rechargeable NiMH batteries that won?t develop a memory when charging. It can also be used with 5 standard AAA alkaline batteries in emergencies.
The backlit LCD and keypad allows it to be used in low light conditions and will turn off automatically to conserve battery power. The built-in NOAA Channels and NOAA weather alert give you 24-hour access to local weather information. It also acts as an All-Hazards Emergency receiver and will alert you to weather, natural disasters and other emergencies provided to the National Weather Service by local and state government officials.

Nice find Manny. I bought an an extra Icom handheld for family use at $130 and this one is around $50 with tax/shipping from Amazon:

I'm actually going to pick up 1 to see how it works. This won't replace a good mounted unit as this peaks at 3 watts vs 50 watts of most mounted units.

Edit: might want to check out this midland unit. I few bucks more and it's 5 watts instead of 3. Probably worth the extra few bucks:Amazon.com: Midland NT1VP Nautico 88-Channel Water-Resistant VHF Marine Two-Way Radio: Car Electronics

With our group continuing to grow I think we've reach the point were we should camp somewhere we can reserve sites. After much research and discussion with MB I think it would be best to camp in Shelter Cove. We could try and push further but it would be a total of nearly 8 hours of driving with no stopping to get to the next campsite where we could reserve sites. I would imagine we'd add at least 2-3 hours between pit stops, lunch, and sightseeing. I don't want us rolling in at 10pm at night trying to set up.

If we make good time, we can just drop off our stuff at the at camp in Shelter Cove and go hit the road north, check out the sites and turn back to camp. If we don't make good time, we can just head north in the morning.

By camping at Shelter Cove we are also fine timing wise should Sherwood Rd open.

I've contacted Shelter Cove RV & Campground and they are going to get back to me on a group rate. Their regular rate is $35/night for 2 people- $10/additional person. I figure we'll have 2 people per truck on average so we should be good there. They will get back to me tomorrow with group pricing. If the rate is good I'll probably just reserve it and ask you guys to reimburse me via paypal or cash. If the rate isn't that much different I'll just ask you guys to call and reserve your site individually.

Let us know as soon as u find out I would hate for us to have to camp in different camp grounds, I don't see why they wouldn't cut us a group rate, but we need to make sure people that are going for sure makes the reservation and any maybe listers will have to reserve as soon as they find out if they come. It would suck for bigg to invest his time and money for the reservations and only get partial back pay

Thanks Dan and I will.
I will split any cost Bigg might incur if while setting it up something happens and he not get re-imbursed...

Thanks Ice! That's a stand up offer. Much appreciated.

And the list keeps on growing:

Non Raptors:
FJ Cruiser

Maybe:

Turbo95max
ruffstuff- come on buddy, you need to join the "going" list
Nosbusa

I'm feeling pretty confident we'll have at least 12 trucks on this run. I haven't seen SVTCali around the forum lately so I'm not sure he'll make it. I'll probably shoot him a pm soon. But everybody else seems to be pretty involved and excited about the run.

That's mighty nice of ya ice... I'm debating on getting the icom or not any personal suggestions or opinions?

If you plan on making future runs it's a great investment. Icecobra probably has more knowledge in this area.

Are you looking at the mounted 50 watt unit or a handheld?

IF you enjoy these runs and want to have good communications you want to go with the Icom F5021 it will do everything you need and AMAZON is 299 free shipping with plus account. Also Noah, the car stereo company is looking to get setup as a dealer for Icom. I prefer Icoms they are mil-spec radios and built to take a beating. A lot of law enforcement bet there lives on these units... I can program it once you have it....
