The same question could be asked about many of the mods we do to our trucks like running true beadlocks on the street. Also, there are DOT regulations for bumper height. It becomes pretty grey where to measure the bumper height on any of aftermarket Raptor bumpers which significantly alter the approach angle. Mid or top perch and/or 37" tires probably puts you above the DOT bumper height limit too.

Like others have said, life is short. Personally, I don't worry about this stuff too much because I just can't leave any vehicle stock. God forbid, if I happen to kill someone in an accident, there will be some slimeball attorney that could probably argue and win that my stubby antenna was the cause.

******* attorneys are the scum of the earth

**** it run em! I would if I could get my hands on a set. Yea your insurance can easily deny any claim if they knew but seriously they would have to be not picking to find that your tires aren't dot approved now in an accident with serious injuries well be prepared to face a huge fine or even jail time of its fatal. But the chances of that are slim so I'd run em

Pat---I know of someone who owns a large off road shop here that was sued because they just SOLD a set of used tires! Did not even mount them on rims. Accident even happened (rolled truck killing a young man and his father) in MEXICO!!! Family sued Ford and this was a lifted truck(not by my friends shop) the shop that put on the lift, kit maker, and the tire mfgr.

Bottom line after 2 years the insurance companies paid out a almost 7 figure settlement! Just think if those were not DOT tires. Additionally if the LEO is a real jerk he can either have you tow off your vehicle or change the tires before it can be driven.

I know a lot of tough types say to hell with it but after they get sued after an accident that was not even their fault because of the investigation will change their minds. Nothing like going to the poor house because you are stupid to make you realize being cool is not worth it lol the non DT tires are among the lowest of all low hanging fruit you can get sued for in case of an accident ....

Not really if someone hit me or caused an accident that caused me harm and they had non DOT tires I would sue them and get everything they had:lazer: including their last clean pair of underwear!!

I got a $2M umbrella policy while I was running them, just cancelled it because I plan on selling the truck next month.

I was pulled over in Culver City my first week running them doing a huge burnout into the street (made sure it was somewhat clear) infront of CHP. Totally sounded like a TT and it made me happy. Then a CHP officer came up and told me I have a nice truck and he would hate to impound it and let me go since I was on my way out offroading in Mojave at night with the truck. Most LEO don't notice.

I have heard about the insurance thing though and choose not to comment on it, but it can void accidents from what I hear.

Flat spots suck for the first 10 min, the BFG Baja tires are not good in snow and have me worried in the rain.

Good news is they are super fun and don't chunk as easily in the dirt!
