I have seen a ton of trucks running non-dot projects and grabbers of the 37" variety.

Now I have spoken with a few people, and although the odds of a cop pulling you over for running them are extremely low...

In the unfortunate event of an accident, especially one caused by the tires in any way, (traction/sliding/blowout etc.) - could probably give the insurance a reason to not cover you, and even more unfortunate if you collided with someone else - all they would have to do is hire an attorney and you could potentially be liable for everything.

Can anyone give any input on this?

On the legal end of things he's right, that's the only reason for lAwyers to work so hard to find anything they prove it's your fault.

you know my opinion on this

legally it can put you in a world of hurt if you are in an accident with non-DOT tires

It can also void your insurance, making you completely liable for your accident and any damages suffered/caused. I took a quick peek at the expenses so far related to my relatively minor accident last month and they could basically bankrupt me, and they haven't even taken a look at the car yet

I would be more worried about all the heavy duty bumpers that are not DOT. Imagine if someone slammed into a loved ones car with one of those bumpers totaling the car and killing the passenger.

**** it run em! I would if I could get my hands on a set. Yea your insurance can easily deny any claim if they knew but seriously they would have to be not picking to find that your tires aren't dot approved now in an accident with serious injuries well be prepared to face a huge fine or even jail time of its fatal. But the chances of that are slim so I'd run em

The same question could be asked about many of the mods we do to our trucks like running true beadlocks on the street. Also, there are DOT regulations for bumper height. It becomes pretty grey where to measure the bumper height on any of aftermarket Raptor bumpers which significantly alter the approach angle. Mid or top perch and/or 37" tires probably puts you above the DOT bumper height limit too.

Like others have said, life is short. Personally, I don't worry about this stuff too much because I just can't leave any vehicle stock. God forbid, if I happen to kill someone in an accident, there will be some slimeball attorney that could probably argue and win that my stubby antenna was the cause.
