I did search a little on google and other places...

I have to order my tire tomorrow. I have only driven on the KO2’s. I had them on my Jeep Wrangler, Ford Raptor, Shelby F150.

I think they drive very smooth and are quiet. I did notice on my second set for the Raptor (had around 22k miles on them when I had to replace) - the new tires require a lot of weight to balance them.

The rep at the store who is installing my parts told me that although they are more expensive that they never seem to have people come back or complain about the Nitto Ridge Grappler. He said that he highly recoomends them and would not go KO2.

I think the KO2 is a nicer/classier looking option but I rather have the better of the two.

Consideration is mostly highway manners and quiet operation.

From my research online and from friends who have run every AT on the market, the KO2 is among the worst. Nitto is generally considered better, but is about 10-12 lbs heavier on our trucks - way too much. Personally, I'll be going with the Cooper ST Maxx. Only a few pounds heavier than the KO2, and nothing but stellar reviews online. A friend who spends much of his time in the dirt and has run every AT only gets those now. He has a pretty unfavorable opinion of the KO2s, which mirrors the thoughts I've independently come to.

Both the Nitto Ridge and Cooper ST Maxx are hybrids. The only other one I know of is the Toyo RT, which is similar to the Nitto, as they are sister companies.

Agreed the KO2 are just garbage unless you live in a warm place, never leave pavement and have all of your maintenance etc done at the dealer. You will be at the dealer or tire place getting the KO2 rebalanced every rotation. I had one tire take 12oz of weight to balance on the very first rotation!

For me I didn’t mind the extra weight for a superior tire, the Coopers are good and way better than the KO2 but my experience they get noisy and wear faster than the RG after the first 10k. The tread pattern throws more stones as well.

Not happy with BFG, however curious to see how the KM3’s fair.

My KO2s have 15K on them, and a little over 1/2 tread left. I was driving the rain today on the highway, and spun them at 65 starting a pass...scary, and surprising. They then plowed/understeer skidded a bit on the exit ramp, and that was in 4A. Their wet traction is very suspect. I think I am going Toyo Open Country LT or RT next time.

Well - I guess this bit me for making the decision.

I had to go back for vibration in steering at highway speeds. They replaced two tires for me but no luck -‘it’s actually worse now. Guy told me that sometimes they get a bad batch but recommends that I go Toyo AT instead.

So I get a new set this week. I need to pick between Toyo AT or Ridge Grappler... Which one?

I like the toyo tire looks as it’s closer to the KO2 but I need best tire on the highway.

Also to note. I almost lost my index finger trying to trim the plastic. Was using an exacto knife and the blade snapped. My hand kept moving and the jagged part was sticking in the plastic. Felt like I left my finger on the ground. Please be careful if you trim your plastic.

Toyo ATll? or RT? or MT?

They ATll is most like the KO2.

Toyo RT and the Ridge Grappler could be the same compound with a different tread pattern Toyo and Nitto are basically the same company so decide which tread and sidewall you prefer. These are the exact tires I narrowed my choice down to and prefer the sidewall and pattern of the RG.
