Add a Rear Bump Shock FIRST before going hard off road...

Welcome California guy... Okay guys, eight members all say hi and this Off Road Enthusiast says he would like a list of items to get for his Raptor right away. First of all you'll find out fast the list is not simple or short and Christmas won't cover it unless your girlfriend is Oprah Winfrey.

My first suggestion is to look into a Rear Bump Shock Kit. Research it before you make a purchase. SDHQ looks simple and I know it works. I went with a Raptor to Death Valley last week and he had bent his frame and he got his frame straightened and then installed the SDHQ Bump Shock. Now, (What he Says) he is driving his Raptor even harder than before. The other Raptor on out trip had the same scenario, bent his frame and went to Outlaw where they straightened it and installed the FOX bump shock.

I chose the Outlaw setup for mine. They are local to me and the guys at Outlaw really test their products and are great to deal with.

Here is a picture of the Outlaw Bump Shock Kit on My Raptor.

I also Line-Xed my bed and wheel wells. Changed my leaf springs to Deavers and I'm in the process of re-valving the shocks. This is what I do for a living and I'm trying to keep a nice cushy ride on the streets while increasing the valving to handle a lot more off roading. My SCREW was not even close to my expectations with the factory FOX SVT shock valving. The FOX shock is an awesome design being a (Internal) triple bypass - just it is a lot harder to valve these shocks having so many variables all inside the shock. I too have been racing Off Road since 1979 which was my first Baja 1000 race in a (Class 8) Chevy Truck and our pre-runner back then worked better than a 2011 Raptor. So far what I have done with the valving is night and day from the factory setup - but I'm not finished yet!

Remember, have fun and be safe!

Just picked up a 2012 Raptor & love it.
Looking to do some simple mods & get a little advice from those in the know.
Thanks in advance for the help.
I own/run a small motorcycle dyno & service shop here in the central valley & have raced/ridden off road most of my life. Couldn't pass up the chance to pick up this truck!

First off :welcome:

With regards to some simple mods and in addition to the ones already suggested in the previous post, I'd go with an ABS & vacuum guard kit, a pair of HID headlights (Retro-Solutions stand behind their product), since the stock lamps kinda suck.

And if you're into an aftermarket exhaust set-up, why not look-up Stainless Works - I'm more than happy with the cat-back system I purchased from them. It is not too loud, but produces a very deep throaty rumble when you hit the gas pedal ... best sounding set-up in my opinion.

Oh, and if you are considering some aftermarket wheels and tires, a mid-perch adjustment to your front shocks might be a good idea ... :waytogo:

We'd love to see your truck, so don't forget to post some pictures! Have fun!

Welcome Dyno..... Hey my buddy is up in woodlake

Stones throw from here. I just bought some land in Texas & am gettin' the f**k out of cacafornia in the next couple of years.
Thanks for the good info on the recommended upgrades.
My truck is going into the shop tomorrow for a Line-X spray liner & exhaust system.

What tuner would you guys recommend?
I do it for a living on motorcycles & quads, but different systems altogether.
