So there I was, test driving a new silver SVT Raptor, against both mine and my wife's better judgement. I was 99.9% sure that she'd hate it and absolutely forbid me to even think about buying one. However, clearly, the devil has a sense of humor, 'cos it turned out that she loved it and actually encouraged me to buy it! Of course, I didn't offer her a test drive in a more sensible, but equally luxurious F-150 with an EcoBoost mill, so that was kind of clever of me, wasn't it? No matter, though, as the SVT Raptor was the only automatic tranny equipped pickup that would ever have been able to separate me from my trusty '01 Dodge Ram SLT Cummins turbo diesel (Edge chipped) long bed with the 5 speed stick shift. The Raptor is very cool, but I'm still gonna miss that old diesel, especially the 16 mpg city and 20 mpg highway part, plus it seemed quicker and faster, especially while under load, top end for sure, and it was paid for. Maybe this was pay back time for her convincing me to trade my cherry '68 Ford Bronco Sport, with the 289 V-8 & 3-on the-tree, in on that silver '97 Mercedes SL500, a couple years ago. On On
