New Raptor at Dealership with 44 miles

Hi All,
Looking at purchasing a new 2020 Raptor that hasn’t been test driven. Found one with my build spec and the Dealership guarantees the current 44 miles arrived from the port with this milage and has not been test driven. In my search, I’ve found Raptors with a range of 7-12 miles that arrived from the port without being test driven. I’m fairly certain the one with 44 miles has been test driven.

When I was searching for my Porsche GT3RS, the dealership was able to read the ”over revs” from the on board computer. Anyone on this forum have first hand knowledge if it’s possible to obtain similar information from the Raptor onboard computer? I’m not technically savvy, but I would think high RPM revs or even RPM high revs before the engine was at operating temperature, might be able to get these reports.

May I assert my opinion that you're being WAY over the top. This is a Raptor, if the red line was hit on every pull of those 44 miles, who cares? And the probility of that is extremely low to begin with. Raptors aren't delicate flowers, and frankly GT3RS aren't either.

thats a lot of miles for not being test driven. My guess is it has been driven

This isnt going to go well. Havent you read the stories of the guys that demand the dealer to not allow anyone to drive the truck, call them the minute the truck arrives, transporter is only allowed to unload the truck off their truck, etc etc?? If these instructions are not followed they will not purchase the truck. Haha. Thats def being WAY over the top.

Anyways, 44 miles does seem like alot. My 2013 had less then 10 miles on it, my 2019 had 20 miles on it, the sales lady said she took it to go get gas.

I’ve never seen a new raptor at a dealership under 40 miles. My 18 new had 45 and my 19 new had 49. The nine others on the lot had between 44 and 51 with a demo at 144.

I know a guy that worked at the St Paul Ford Ranger plant before it shut down. He told me that told me that higher level staff at the plant were allowed on occasion to drive new cars straight from the factory, home for the night as part of QA. The were only allowed to go home and then come straight back the next day. This may be the case here.

I wouldn’t worry about 44 miles.

So check this one out. I had my choice of two identical Raptors - Both Agate Black 800A base models. One had 42 miles and one had 9. I picked the one with lower mileage, because like you, I am **** about that kind of thing. Long story short, my brand new Raptor broke down on the way home. A coolant hose broke and lost all its coolant. Talk about the worst buzz kill ever. Dealer was super cool about it and let me change the paperwork to get the other truck instead. The moral to the story here, any assembly issues probably happen in the first 50 miles or so. You are better off getting one with a few miles because it is tested. Who cares if someone redlined the car on a test drive? A lot of tuners say you're actually better off breaking in a new motor that way.

Also, once in a while, Ford will select a vehicle right off the assembly line to do extensive testing. They give you a print out stating so. My wife's Escape was one of those. Maybe the Raptor you speak of is one of those that the factory tested... ???

I’ve see brand new factory Ducatis redlined on the dyno. There’s still a break in period in the manual lol

I special ordered my 2018, and my salesman sent me a picture of it right after it was unloaded. I took delivery that same day. If I remember correctly, my truck had 21 miles on the odometer when I **** drove it, and while it’s nice to be able to put those first miles on, after a few days and miles of owning your Raptor, you most likely won’t care how many miles were on it when you took delivery. I personally wouldn’t think twice about 44 miles if the truck is spec’d out the way you want.
