Hey all, have had my '19 Raptor for about a week now.
For me, I had a very valuable (i.e. expensive) lesson when I wanted a Raptor last year but didn't necessarily want the V6. So I bought a new Silverado LTZ (midnight) with the 6.2L and did a pile of work to it to make it mine. 6" BDS lift, Rims/tires, light bar, roll cage with servo actuated light bar, etc.
I had that truck for a year but wasn't totally happy with it. Transmission was very weird, truck guzzled cas as it was on a 6" lift with M/Ts, and actually rode pretty average (did not get the fox upgraded shocks). I decided to test drive another Raptor to see what the new live valve shocks were like. After I got back into my Silverado, turned the key in the ignition (yes there is still a key on the column in 2018) and drove home in what felt like a lumber wagon in comparison, I decided to take the $20k hit on my trade in and just get the damn Raptor.
My logic was as follows:
- A Raptor will not depreciate like an accessorized standard truck
- If there is nowhere to upgrade to, then I don't have that itch to upgrade (for a couple years anyway)
- It's fun as hell! We got snow this week and I have been having a lot of fun : )
First world problems to be sure, and I sure feel blessed to have this kind of problem in my life.
Thanks for having me.
