Thanks for the Welcome.
Denver.
The paint issues I had were "fisheyes". They looked like door dings, a circle about 1" in diameter. I'm told there was a contaminant like a speck of oil on the truck when it was painted. The contaminant makes a bubble appear which gets popped, and the result is the strange circle which appears to be a door ding but is perfectly flush with rest of panel. the worst of them, and there were three, actually had a small area in the center of the circle where there was no paint at all. The service director at the dealership told me it really needed to get fixed or it would just rust through in only a couple years.
The problem I was concerned about at that time was that the "certified" Ford body shop would not be able to match the rest of the paint. And they didn't.
So I now have three panels on the truck that when looked at closely, look different than the rest of the truck. Paint rep for the shop came by Wednesday with a fancy "paint" camera which gave results that matched what my eye tells me; the paint don't match. Seems to have to do with the metallic paint , and the "courseness" of the "metallic flake" in the paint mix.
If anyone is taking delivery of a new vehicle, I would make sure to take your time and really look it over good. Check it in diferrent light if you can. Learn from my mistake. If you find any problem you are not willing to live with, do not accept the vehicle.
The dealer I bought from has done nothing for me. They have turned me and my new raptor, over to the warranty department.
The "certified" body shop has now applied a second coat of paint and clearcoat, which doesn't match. They want to try again, and I'm not sure at this point if I will let them. I can't imagine how this paint job will look in say 5 years. Some of the truck has a single coat of paint/clear, and three panels have two coats, maybe one more to come. I can't imagine how the overall paintjob will wear evenly when one panel has a single coat, and others have three.
