You’re not wrong about the cost increases and the QC; Ford has had another banner year of leading the way on recalls. This is bad business. That said, you’re comparing a .75 ton work truck to an off road ‘half ton’ truck and the comparison, such as it is really isn’t fair. The Raptor is a performance truck that can do things off road that destroy other half ton trucks. It sacrifices ability to tow and haul at the altar of performance. You should be looking at an F250 to draw a closer comparison.

Ford has definitely whacked the options on models across the line. Some of them were problem children - wireless charging in the ’24 Mustang was a an abject failure, and removed from the ’25 model entirely. HUGE numbers complained it just cooked the phones. Torsen, I think was just a profit issue, but I would point out that since ’17, some users were complaining of “pulling” under acceleration, attributed to the Torsen. Maybe they thought they could electronically trick the truck to about 85% of the Torsen’s function and save several hundred dollars per truck. Who knows. I will bet that I know why the red stripe is gone; because some folks are washing their hands in brake cleaner before getting in the truck and white knuckle gripping the wheel at 12 o’clock.

Cross shopping is the right answer. If someone has a competing product, you’re a fool not to look. Ford does a lot of things right, but definitely not everything.
Appreciate the feedback! I noted in my post (I was not comparing trucks). Yes a 2500 diesel is no comparison to a Raptor. My point was more around the options for the cost.

If they continue to remove options customers will start looking for trucks that better fit their wants/needs. Glad we have competition or we wouldn't have a Raptor.

Here are some pics that were asked for. Also i had an order for an rho got a great deal 10k under sticker, ordered end of July and with my lease coming up i was getting nervous it wouldn’t be ready in time. It was also frustrating seeing trucks with exact same build sheet ordered 3 or more months later getting delivered.IMG_0660.jpegIMG_0661.jpegIMG_0662.jpeg

Congrats and looks great. $10k off is the minimum discount I would consider for a RHO. Back in Jan 23 I had ordered a TRX for 4% below invoice ($10k) from Chapman in Horsham PA but went with a 35 Raptor instead a month or so later an never took the TRX. With incentives now, would think even a better discount could be had on a RHO. If I was in the market for a new truck it would be a tough call. But IMO the Raptor kills the RHO in exterior looks.

Thanks for the pics. I confused the automatic stop/start deactivation button with the ignition start/stop button. That is the only feature I was glad to have lost on my 22. They even discounted $50 if I remember correctly...lol.

My last truck 24 GMC 2500 AT4X duramax cost the same as my Raptor. Not comparing trucks, however the options you get for the money, seems like GM is a better value.

Just to name a few message seats, rearview camera (stays on while driving), kicker system in the tailgate etc.

Ford keeps removing options on the Raptor and increasing the retail, they will start losing market share. I would rather them keep some of the options removed a pay a higher price.

Torsen diff, (still available on Tremors), Red strip on the steering wheel, console lighting etc.
I traded a ‘22 1500 AT4x for a 801a Raptor. If you compare based on MSRP, the Raptor still feels like a better value.

The current 6.2l AT4x runs about $84k MSRP with steps. You get a more luxurious interior with better leather and massaging multi contour seats. You also get a front locker and digital rear view mirror. Finally, the multipro tailgate is a better solution for a tailgate step.

Compared to the Raptor, you miss out on: long travel suspension, mechanical locking center diff (GM has had some documented issues with the clutch packs disconnecting 4wd to keep from overheating), button in bed for bed lights, sunglasses holder in overhead console, pano sunroof option, better perimeter lighting that recognizes the key fob as you approach, full screen CarPlay, more user adjustability, 36 gallon tank (the GMC only has a 24 gallon tank), auto closing tailgate and a more powerful inverter. All for an MSRP of under $83k.

I realize that MSRP isn’t a fair comparison because the GMC can be had with big discount, unlike the Raptor. However, when you factor in value retention then the discount doesn’t make as large an impact on the actual cost of ownership over an extended period.

I do miss the rearview mirror camera and the multipro tailgate. I also prefer the wireless charger location in the GMC. None of those things change my thinking that my de contented ‘25 Raptor is a big upgrade over my old AT4x.

Thanks for posting some pics. That first one looks like lots of missing buttons above the screen.

I think they moved some of the buttons that used to be above the screen. They are now between the audio knobs. I’m not sure what buttons used to be in this space.
Yep, the relocated buttons seem to be camera, hazards, traction control, and maybe one more. I’m glad we didn’t lose them, I just don’t like the vacant look of where it appears buttons should be. Anyway, I can’t wait to get my 2025 in the next week or so.
