Ya right...... Just like the marketting ******* for svt... Its not lawyers or whatever you said...
Its sales sales sales money money money. I dont care if you continue makig raptors but if tour gonna sell only 20 and make it real special edition make it a real truck.

They tried that...it was called the Raptor XT. Ford wanted to sell a non-street legal version for $100,000. The bean counters and lawyers wouldn't let it happen.

Oh ok i just read that today going thru posts!

Still ******* stupid!!!!!!!!!!
That means a handfull of raptors on this forum raptizzle, chris ross, me, ect ect ect
Are classified as extremely special editions then...

Thats exactly it Netix- Did Ford want to build a truck for the THREE of you, or for an actual market?

If you were building something, would you build it to sell a few? or to actually make money? Dont have GM mentality here. Unless you are a socialist, you really shouldnt be faulting a company for making vehicles that make them money.

While your idea of a build is great, out of the 27,000 Raptors on the street currently, there are like a dozen the way you want it. The other 26,988 are trucks that people want to drive on the street (comfortably) you know.

Im sorry, can you NOT go out and add those things you want to ANY raptor already out there? There is a reason the XT wasnt built- the cost was going to be about double, and they would sell maybe 20 of them. Then there is the obvious reason- Its the same reason Ford and GM dont sell open wheeled F1 cars either- the second someone gets killed driving it like a *******, guess who gets blamed- "How dare they build such a car?!"

In simple terms- Ford builds a Raptor in current form. Some ******* decides taking a 90 foot jump in it should be no problem, right?

I think people are forgetting that these go down a production line too. It's all set up for the raptor in its current form. To do big changes like 3.0s, 37s, and so on they would have to bear the cost of acquiring the new stock and possibly modifying the line to accommodate it. Not to mention testing all those new parts. That money adds up.

If they just change some colors( that they already had anyway) and stickers then there's really no testing involved and not much additional cost. I look at this more like the molten orange than anything. That could have been called a special edition by these standards.

All in all, yeah it's kinda disappointing but it was a smart play on fords part

Agreed,

SVT stands for Special Vehicle Team.

Anything produced by SVT is automatically a Special Edition vehicle. I can't recall SVT creating a Special Edition Lightning or a Special Edition Cobra before that. SVT is also known for making improvements to their vehicles. We saw the 2nd Gen Lightning receive a Supercharger...they swapped out the 80mm MAF for a 90mm in the latter models. They added a supercharger to the 2003/2004 Cobra.

I'm not sure if SVT is saving their tricks for a new 2015 model but creating an "Extra Special Vehicle" is a silly, specially when the basic differences are cosmetic.

You had the 10th Anniversary Edition Cobra, Mystic, and Mystichrome Cobra's.

I'm not really on board with them calling it a Special Edition either.

Ya, I've got way to many cars and car stats in my head to remember them all sometimes.
