Well shit... if you have a “strong feeling” I may as well cancel my 2019 order. LOL!

Nobody has confirmed a V8 for any raptors. The new v8 speculated to be designed for the raptor was actually designed for the Super Duty and the posted numbers aren’t that impressive.

Plenty of reviews on the Fox Live Shock system used in other applications. Most say it’s truly groundbreaking. At the very least we should have less bottoming out and the ability to have self adjusting shocks is in and of itself an improvement. As in BMWs and Porsche’s, static shock setups feel like a compromise balancing ride with performance. The optional adaptive shock system from both makers infinitely improves highway ride as well as on track performance. Hopefully we see similar benefits from live shock.

If implemented correctly live shock should also correct the notorious rear end wiggle raptors are known for. Nobody knows for sure but my fingers are crossed that I won’t need to install a Deavers setup with Live Shock.

Keep in mind, humans are easily wowed with sparkly things, bright, shiny new things, fancy tech, etc. People said the same stuff about the original iPhone. Not 2 years later, it was old hat. Other analogies abound, and I can guarantee there will be some online and print reviews singing the praises, proclaiming all other suspension obsolete. The same has been said before and will be again.

Infiniti had some fancy “active” suspension. Yamaha ran a fancy “non fork” front end; a la James Parker’s RADD system, it only lasted a few years. After year 2-3, once the shine wears off, writers are more likely to admit faults or both reluctantly and publicly acknowledge an opinion contrary to their initial review.

I am having trouble envisioning how the live action shocks are going to correct the Rap’s rear end wiggle. You’ve got a lightly suspended and leaf sprung, live axle rear with over 400 ft lbs at peak being put to it at times. You get a lot of wheel hop and axle wrap. Stiffening the damping absent the spring rate change and more positive location of the axle will just make it less compliant, all other things being equal. I’m not saying these shocks won’t be an improvement, on the contrary I think they will step up the game of the truck.

Anyway, I’m curious to see how the new shocks actually perform. I can’t wait to see the look on my saleswoman’s face when I come in for potential trade up and test drive- complete with helmets. How else will we be able to test out the new suspension?

This is just simply bad advice. Not only does he base his opinion on a "strong feeling" of a gimmick, but his very next statement is to hold out for the v8 (lololol). This is either a troll or just a very poor thought pattern.

My advice would be that unless you can get an incredible trade in on your '18, the economics of that kind of deal simply don't make sense. I think the shocks, BL wheels, recaro seats, and additional tech are worth ordering a '19 instead of an '18 for me. But my situation is markedly different: I have a leased '16 F150 XLT.

Without knowing the specifics, I would guestimate you'd take a $10k-$12k haircut to move up to a '19. My opinion is the new features of the '19 aren't worth that much money.

But, if you really want the features and can justify the price, go for it.

when it gets to that point, sure. She will not be phased in the least, I can assure you. Our test drive of the ’17 was anything but smooth. I think my wife quipped “stop being so juvenile”, saleswoman was goading me “oh, I’ve had worse test drives”.
