Looking into headers and exhaust upgrade. Stock right now, looked around stainless works and roush. Don't want it to be to loud in the cab and don't want any issues while off roading. Let me hear suggestions and experiences it's any brand. I have read some post already.

I have stainless works off road headers and lightning exit. The headers fit perfect but I ordered aluminum gaskets made by kooks. The lightning exit is loud in the cab and with cams sounds great at idle and wide open. Anything in between in my opinion sounds like garbage. But I feel like that is the case with any glass pack style muffler.
I'm gonna put a call into spintech and have them build me a replacement muffler. I have their cobra r setup on my mustang and it really sounds amazing.

I just ordered American Racing stainless long tubes with high flow cats that will connect to my resonator-deleted Magnapak trophy exhaust that goes up through the bed and bakflip.

Should be loud as shit...but that's my goal.

sd, I hope you don't mind if I piggyback on your thread since I have a very similar question that I've been researching. (Tell me to **** if you do mind.) Hopefully, it will give you some useful information, though.

I also want a set of headers but I'm having trouble finding the right one. I want to do a custom h-pipe with dual borla or magnaflow straight-through cans dumped in front of the axle. So far, the only company that doesn't do either a y-pipe or x-pipe is Stainless Works with their "Lightning" setup as shown attached. Can anyone else confirm or deny this?

I really like what I hear about ARH, but they only have a y-pipe. Same with Kooks.

Comments/questions/snide remarks?

Considering the numbers for horsepower, torque and useable RPM...an H-pipe or X-pipe for our applications doesn't really provide any significant advantage.

If that's what you want...then by all means...try to find / fab something...but performance wise your biggest gains will be seen by getting rid of the factory manifolds and cats and making a less restrictive system overall and a tune to go with it.

Good luck in your search.

Aramco, I'm not sure I get your point. I am going for a completely new system. I just want headers that I can build onto, not be stuck with their y-/x-pipe. Thoughts?

Bullet, I also think a y-pipe would be more restrictive. That is, unless the single outlet tube was at least twice the area of the two incoming tubes. I think an x-/h-pipe would have comparable flow properties to each other. I have no empirical data for this, just an old engineering degree. - YODA
