You got that right - Just Based Out of Japan = Meaning money going back to Mother Company

Cooper & GoodYear are just based "IN" the---> USA

Don't worry bud, you're right. How bout we get back on topic? And stop worrying about where things are made and what will best suit the OP's needs...

My choice is Toyo AT2 OP

:birgits_tiredcoffeeThe only two USA tire Mfg's are Cooper & Good Year:patriot:

Yes sir! My new Goodyear Duratracs all say "Made in the USA."

All factors pertinent to a tire purchase are "on topic," EHWCAP. No offense, but you do not define the parameters for everyone else. I've never even seen a moderator do that.

None taken. But opposed to derailing the thread any further with this banter, lets stick to topic at hand. No where in the original post did the OP say that it matters where the tires are made. He simply wants something less hardcore than the Grabbers w/o sacrificing too much off road capability.

PS which moderator are you talking about? I'm just a supporting member...

Exactly. If the OP didn't bound the discussion then it's fair game, and you don't bound the discussion.

Thanks for all the feedback, everyone! With the information you guys provided and the help of a SMOKIN' HOT deal, I made a decision. Truck is at the shop now and I'll post pics once I get it back. Stay tuned!

Tires are often made close to where the rubber compound source materials are, for example dunlop makes the different compound versions of the same tire in 3 different countries.

I run general grabbers on my truck and they are dead silent.

Those goodyear tires look great but after 20,000 miles are the loudest things you will ever put on a truck. My God the noise was out of control, made driving around town suck...never again!
