Navigation "Bezel Diagnostics": View and Clear DTCs

I just discovered the navigation unit's "bezel diagnostics" feature.

To enter it, hold down the "3" and "6" preset buttons. It will begin a speaker test. You can end the speaker test immediately by pressing the "end test" button in the lower right corner to proceed directly to the "bezel diagnostics screen". Or you can wait for it to finish.

The bezel diagnostics screen looks like this:

The "View DTCs" option appears to allow you to view and clear *real* OBD2 DTCs. At first I figured this was just for nav or BCM codes, but googling a bit seems to indicate that these are actually PCM DTCs, i.e., check-engine-light producing OBD2 codes. Can anyone with a check engine light verify that this is the case?

I can't believe no one has posted this before. Quite the awesome feature if it works.

I still can't believe I've never heard of this before...happened upon it on a Ford Escape forum while googling for a way to enter GPS coordinates into a Sync nav....which unfortunately you CANNOT do.

Latlong and altitude on the main screen I think. The altitude is in meters. The latlong is in integer values that are unfortunately fairly meaningless. Not sure how the values are represented but I'm guessing its number of seconds (they were 7 or 8 digits long). Also tells you how many/which satellites are in range.

Mine doesn't work - tried in several configurations (driving, parked) but no dice.
Then again, I had the NAV installed after I bought the truck, and they just stuck a plain one in like you'd find in a Taurus or something.

Yours is out of an Expedition or SuperDuty right? Still a Sync Nav but in the double-DIN-sized modular enclosure rather than fully integrated into the dash?

If that's the case I'm a bit surprised given the SuperDuty thread that indicates it works there. According to that link, they say it has to be in park. Any chance your unit doesn't know if it's in park?
