How much would it cost if someone was to try and actually put this in their truck?

the unit retails for $3500 and you will also need a nav tv to activate video in motion. i do provide frf discounts so if you are serious, let me know

How complex is the install though?

takes about an hour and a half plus the time it takes to mount the camera so it can vary a bit. camera plugs into the brain. brain gets power and ground and video plugs into center console av. longest part is running wires and mounting camera. thats it

Where did you have your camera mounted and do you think it is a worth while addition? And sorry for thread jacking slightly.

so it seems my flir is getting more attention. here are a few pics of how its currently installed. one of these days when a bumper vendor wants to do a trade, i will get a bumper with a specific spot for the flir. until then, it kinda goes where it fits.

i think its worth it to have this camera if you are in wooded areas. i constantly see deer roaming the back roads as i head home. also, driving in the mountains in tahoe reno area at night, a lot of people dont turn off their high beams. all i do is look at the screen and i can see the road clearly (as well as hit aux 1 and turn on all my forward facing leds). but the value of the camera is solely up to you. this is the same camera that comes on the new audis.so if you have seen one of those, then you know how useful it can be

I'm not sure if this is a FLIR camera or something else, but I noticed this upper grille mounted device in the upper grille area on the driver's side of the truck. Looks like a good location for a FLIR camera. And there's some other device on the passenger's side, but I can't quite make out what it is.

Maybe @Rogue Racing can tell us more about it.

that is a flir camera. i am hesitant to mod or change my grill at the moment. i like the clean look of it as it is.

so the wife and kids always fight about who can charge their phone/tablet when we are on trips. so to solve that problem, i gave everyone dual 2.1amp usb charging ports. now i keep my usb in the center console free, and they each can charge both their devices all at the same time
