Getting a little more info.....Looks like the rig was built on the 18th...sent to the rail yard for shippment to FLA. Then Ford recalled ALL F-150's that had not been shipped for a saftey hold. Mine went back to the factory on the 24th and was re-released on March 2nd for shipping. It is sitting......Waiting....... No ETA yet. Ford would not provide any details on what the safety hold was for since the truck had not been delivered to a dealer yet. They did say that there were LOTS of F-150s in this hold. So..I am trying to be a glass half full guy on this. They are fixing my rig and it is heading my way shortly. It needs to get here. My international just puked the rear master cylinder circuit so I am running on front drum brake only right now. The old iron is hanging in there!!!! I think it can..... I think it can..... I think It can...

There is a slip yoke at transmission / transfer case end.

Yes... but the TSB fix for the slip yoke "clunk" is for trucks with a two-piece driveshaft. There is a slip yoke connecting the two halves of the shaft that creates the clunk issue in some trucks. The Raptor does not have this part.

My bet is they wanted to double check or replace the body control module as they've been having a lot of problems with those lately.

I'm glad the truck is back on the way and I hope it arrives soon!!

Strange, some owners on the other forzum have said their dealer has lubed the slip yoke on their trucks.

I'm only guessing, but I think they are talking about the slip yoke on the transmission side of the driveshaft.

We'd need a Ford Tech to answer the part about whether lubing the Raptor slip yoke (where the driveshaft enters the transfer case) is a good idea or not...

Without a transfer case, it's generally a bad idea as the lube can contaminate the transmission fluid and create major issues. With a transfer case, like on the Raptor, you might be okay.

The thing is, the internal splines are usually lubed constantly by the transmission fluid or transfer case oil... so anything you add will just get washed out anyway. Not sure it would help for long, if it helped at all.

And yes, if the splines bind it can create a "clunk". Several Chevy trucks I've owned/driven have had this issue... It usually feels like someone rear ended you as you came to a stop.

My FJ Cruiser had this problem too... a clunk after coming to a stop... but the FJ has a driveshaft where the slip yoke was built in to the driveshaft and was therefore external to the transmission/transfer case.

( I never felt it or heard of it being an issue when hitting a bump though... if that's the clunk being referred to... it usually happens only after you come to a stop. )

The only TSB's I came across for this issue were for trucks with two-piece driveshafts... which have a slip yoke at the carrier bearing that is not bathed in oil like the internal splines are.

Some have stated they had their slip yokes lubed and at least one was told by the dealer that Ford doesn't want it done. It's clear as mud and I'm sure it'll stay that way since they (Ford) won't tell the "story."
